Oh. Em. GEE what a final chapter. The letter was beautiful, you definitely did Havers justice. After the captain's death and the war it absolutely makes sense that he struggled with his sexuality for a time, but him then finding a lavender marriage and sharing his story with his family, who in turn pass it on to the world. The description of his regrets; the love confessions; the guilt that turns to acceptance; the fact that despite not being able to be satisfied without James, he was happy - genuinely perfection, and completely gives the events of this fic closure. Alison the woman that you are. Her sharing this with cap in such a delicate way is so ♥️♥️ and just the legacy of the letter and the captain coming to accept himself and his past, being able to look back fondly rather than in pain. I don't think my comment can do justice to how I feel about this chapter.
Now for the fic in general: this fanfiction is one of my favourites to ever come from this fandom. You've written in a history between two characters that the show was only able to touch on due to its tone and genre, and you've done it in a way that was heartbreakingly painful but also so so sweet. I've genuinely cried while reading more than half of these chapters. This fic has made me think a lot about the beauty of tragedy, but also how something good can come from that, and the final chapter really rounds that off nicely imo. Thank you so much for the stupid amount of time you must have spent writing this - it's definitely paid off!!

that last para :'') WHEW!!! blushing and kicking my feet, that is so sweet. it was such a tough fic to write at times, tragedy and the complexity of their situation was hard to navigate but im so happy to do them justice<3 i will miss uploading chapters but i will return with another caphavers fic in the near future :D i love writing about them so much, there is so much tragedy to expand on.

I'm so glad to hear that there will be more in the future!! I think this fandom has been missing a long, comprehensive, canon adjacent take on their relationship (we want REAL CLOSURE goddamit) and I think this fic filled that space, at least for me, so of course I was going to be excited. Now add on top of that beautifully layered metaphors and an extremely emotional (in a good way) style of writing - obviously this must have been a tough fic because of all the details you put in and I'm glad I managed to catch at least some of them!! Hopefully I'll see you at the next one soon :)
