Nothing like some fun, wholesome murder between soulmates tee hee :)
But real talk, yes, let Dark Percabeth still be wholesome, cute, and sweet around each other. Don't get rid of their humanity and make them go full on evil the moment they decide to go dark, and them acting rough, sadistic, and mean toward each other in some fucked up, twisted sense of love, because that's not interesting. It's the ✨ juxtaposition ✨ of darkness and wholesomeness that is so good.
They finally had enough and they justifiably snapped, your honor, but their heart is still arguably in the right place; the gods ARE a problem, it’s a simple fact of life at this point, and even once Percy and Annabeth go off to college in canon, most of the gods are still the same old same old assholes they were before, at least according to Apollo, more concerned with partying than they are any actual ruling, while demi-god kids, the gods’ own children, are still off dying left and right, while Zeus rescinded Percy’s initial reward for saving his ass (like, how fucking hard is it to just take care of your fucking kids, or even just simply claim them?!), and there’s almost next to no proper resolution to the overall story (I love Rick, but his story is almost about upholding the system and working within the bounds of it rather than outside of it, but how the fuck do you even do that shit when your opponents are quite literally the gods themselves, my man, like, what, are you gonna start a petition, maybe, or a go fund me page? They won’t listen and they don’t have to listen! So, how do you make them listen if they don’t want to? You can’t force them. Percy’s a hero, not a revolutionist, but that’s exactly kind of what these people need right about now and while Percy himself gets a happy ending with the girl of his dreams by the end, Luke’s sacrifice and his death is severely diminished, little ever actually changes, and a part of it feels very unsatisfying). And Percy and Annabeth love each other; their problem is with the gods, not with each other.
