This was wonderful. And sad. (Aww, poor Glorfindel. And poor left-over Egalmoth. Poor everyone.) But such a beautiful idea! I really like your explanation for all the "flowery burial mounds". (Though I can't help thinking that the Valar are just not very good at what they're supposed to do, as in, looking after people and stuff. They wouldn't need all the flowers if they'd just DO something... Honestly, guys.)
On the other hand, if the Valar were more effective, we would miss out on much of the beauty and tragedy of the Silm... So maybe the Valar enjoy that too, and are just sitting around watching First-Age Middle-earth, eating popcorn and discussing people's behaviour?
But yes -- poor everyone, especially from Gondolin. Glorfindel would have liked the flowers, though.
