    I LOOOOOOOVED WRITING EVIL X!!!!!! I love a good villain. I'm also kinda 😳 over villains, so I very much enjoyed making him very evil and scary.
    I wanted a direct contrast to the fact that Scar always gently takes Grian's hands and kisses them, and despite being physically capable of hurting Grian with ease, Scar never would. E.X. of course does not have the same hesitation.

    I think Zed will get off with a light sentence. Probably house arrest since he's such a public figure. That's okay that, I'm sure Tango will visit :D

    YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Grian's career was essential to me for the ending to be happy. He didn't even have to lose the full audience he'd gained from criticizing HotGuy, and he got to change targets a little. (Though, I'm sure he still pokes lighthearted fun at his boyfriend in his articles 🥰)

    When I first decided that False was gonna be instrumental to the plot portion of this fic, I had no plans of making her tragic 😭😭 I was actually considering making the military behind the robot attacks and rising tensions and to have False betray the military and go vigilante with HotGuy and Cub, but when my beta reader suggested Evil X as the villain, the "ten years later" sequence entered my brain and I knew what I had to do. I think the vigilante route would have been cool!! But I think there being a single, defeatable villain is a little more satisfying a resolution (and also easier to achieve from a story writing standpoint sdfkaskfjFKS Military Intrigue is Hard, man). One of the bonus pieces I was thinking about adding to this AU was a oneshot of False visiting X in medical prison :((

    The moment of Grian jumping off the building to get Scar's attention was one of the first scenes that popped into my brain fully formed like Athena in Zeus' noggin. I'm SUUUUUUCH a sucker for "I could have lost you" hugs. And while I think Scar missed the implications of Grian jumping, to Grian that was probably more of a love confession and trust of HotGuy than anything else. He knew he would catch him. That means "I love you" in Pesky Birdish.

    YESSSSSSSSSSSS DUDE YOUR BRAIN. STAMP OF APPROVAL. CANON. YES. Scar ABSOLUTELY heard Grian's bones break. I'm sure it reminded him of all his nightmares of watching Grian die and he was too far to save him. SFKLSFJS I'm sure Scar was very very very caring and coddling but also when Grian is being stubborn, he is faced with the reality that his boyfriend is, in fact, in the military, and sometimes he can act like it. This mostly comes in when he has to start doing physical therapy to regain strength and range of motion in his hands. PT SUUUUUCKS so he tries to avoid it or get away with doing the minimum, but Scar is VERY on top of making sure he's committing himself to healing. Pearl and Scar I'm sure team up when it comes to making sure Grian is taken care of.
