  1. I mean, not really? "Kaachan" and "Kacchan" are technically pronounced differently in Japanese, it's just not obvious to us English speakers because we don't really have elongated vowels ("aa") or hard consonants ("cch"). They do sound similar, but not enough for a native speaker to get them confused (at least, I don't think so). I think a reasonable comparison in English would be the difference between "tree" and "three".
