Truthfully? Elarion did not have any descendants, as she was training under Aaravos until she was twenty-five, and even after establishing the city and essentially becoming the defacto leader of the human race she was too busy to engage in social activities outside of what was strictly necessary. Callum is not related to Elarion, and a further explanation will be provided in the next chapter. Be certain about that :)

Thanks for the update, though you do agree with me that our mighty primal high mage/avatar has always been what he has been really after, right?
I mean, he literally represents His freedom -as the Sky; and the Air/Wind element it gives one complete power over - and that of the recently late sea captain-mage Finnegrin. And obviously, it is Callum he wants and needs desperately to help enact his long-held bitter, ultimate vengeance against his own people upon his imminent release by Prince/High Mage Callum's hands; willing or accidentally.
I certainly think it's a valid theory. After all, in the short story "Patience" (Which remains my favorite short story from TDP's website and served as the main inspiration for this story) it is shown that Viren's piece has been knocked over, and Aaravos is reaching for Callum's. Couple that with the possession and Callum willingly using dark magic at the end of season 5, Callum is going to end up walking a very dark path, alone. Ever since the beginning of Season 4 Callum has been a few steps removed from the rest of the cast; Rayla's disappearance driving a wedge between them, and Ezran taking on his duties as King pulling him away from Callum. Aaravos will almost certainly use this against him, if not to coerce Callum into joining him than to make him dance the jig Aaravos' wants him to. He will almost certainly be the one to release Aaravos from his prison though.
Either way, Aaravos doesn't seem the type to put all of his eggs in one basket. I do think it's interesting that Claudia has never been demonstrated to be one of the main players on Aaravos' chessboard. I suspect this means that A, Aaravos has no use for her beyond acting as a catalyst for finding her prison. Or B, she's teetering on the edge and therefore not someone Aaravos believes has enough autonomy to change any elements of the game.

Cuz Claudia liberating him would be such a downer. Plus, she lacks the capacity and the proper, literal magical prowess to do what Aaravos wants most: the annihilation of his kind and wanting the Stars to fall as he had. And the only way is to wield the legendary Novablade, which she, and everyone else, is incapable of doing. Plus, she has had her time to shine darker if not yet brighter. He had just used her obsession for her father and instability against her, so that his prison cell could fall into Callum's possession.
It would be an incredible oversight on the writer’s part to have Claudia be the one to release Aaravos. It’s fair to say, especially after the teaser, that Claudia has crossed a line she cannot come back from with the loss of her father (Shown visually by the fact that the white of her hair has finally bled over into the remaining black) and such a defining act would be wasted on her.
I suspect that a good portion of S6 will consist of Aaravos playing with Callum, until in the finale he releases Aaravos accidentally, or through trickery. (I still hood out hope for a full morally grey Callum arc and not the one or two scenes we got in S5, preferably with Callum trying to find a middle ground that involves Aaravos paying for his crimes outside of his prison)

But she still could snap out of it by reflecting upon all she has done by letting her abandonment issues and dark magic get the best of her. Princess Azula is on the way for redemption soon, so why not her? We all miss the old Claudia. Plus, dark magic may be officially undone or ousted by the end once Aaarvos, and probably Callum along with him, is destroyed.
True, but I think full redemption is out of the cards for Claudia now. She’s the reason Aaravos is still as big of a threat as she is, so even if she does switch sides at the final hour, it would an injustice for her to receive any other sentence than imprisonment for life.
Additionally, her character reminds me a lot of Morgan’s from the BBC series. She started out with hood intentions and a handful of issues, but with the death of a family member (In the show it was her sister) she spiraled into madness until Merlin (Which funny enough, the interpretation from that show shared a lot with Callum) finally killed her in the final episode.
Relaxing the extent to which you screwed up isn’t redemption. Taking action to fix your mistakes is. Something I don’t see Claudia doing soon enough to stop the catastrophe she helped set in motion.
Aaravos is a perversion of what Callum wants in a teacher; always has the answers, open-minded, and willing to teach Callum magic. Aaravos is the ultimate temptation (I’ve seen a lot of people compare Aaravos to Lucifer, which fits the show’s description of him) and Callum’s ultimate test is going to be not only resisting him, but using that against him.
Now that Viren is dead (Hopefully) the only player left on the board who Aaravos thinks has any degree of agency is Callum. So, yes, while Callum may not be capable of defeating Aaravos on his own due to raw magical prowess, he will be the deciding factor in Aaravos’ own fate. Hence why the archmage has taken such an interest in him.
