Ok, confession- I’ve been waiting to read this for months. I’m a huge fan of yours (Orchards is transcendent). I’d see the updates and so badly want to start reading this, but I knew from the summary alone that this was going to be amazing and not something that I could properly appreciate at work or while wrangling my kids. So, I’m sorry it’s taken me forever to start reading, but I’m here now, ready to savor it (and goodness, it was worth the wait)!
Where to begin? ‘Oh good, we’ve won the Cruciatus Cup,’ yup that’s Ginny and I adore it
‘she does wish - not for the first time in her life - that he’d at least let her vanish with him’— oh my heart. and then you follow it with Harry and Ginny and his invisible hand on hers by the Forest, what a moment. The vibes in this are already incredible.
The time jump back to pure, innocent baby Ginny and Colin is devastating on so many levels, obviously Colin, but also the reminder of Ginny and how that unbridled excitement, the friendly chatterbox that she was is all about to be gone. Girlhood lost.
And then, ‘She makes a mental note to write to Tom about her new friend Colin as soon as she gets chance.’ Gave me goosebumps. It’s that sort of gothic horror feel I get from the Chamber of Secrets, quietly sinister.
Ok I have been extremely selfishly l i v i n g for your comments and re-reading them and not replying and it's time for me to stop doing that and remember my manners but! let me say I am so grateful for you taking the time to consider this work with such attention and care, honestly means so world and makes putting the fic out feel so so worth it. Girlhood lost is exactly it! Also so love that the gothic horror vibes of CoS come out so strongly for you, too - always been so struck by it, really jars with a lot of the early books' tone when you sit with it for a while.
