  1. This is utterly fantastic. I love Sauron's initial reaction being anger, rather than fear or wonder. Now you are angry, angrier than you can remember being in some time, because you do not understand. His character as you've drawn it here is very much how I picture him myself - powerful and methodical and certain - and utterly unaware of certain incredibly important things about himself and the world. The slow hammering of his frustration into something more complex is a delight to watch as it unfolds.

I love how surprised Sauron is when he realizes the nature of Celebrimbor's feelings for him - and I absolutely adore that love make Celebrimbor more dangerous to him and not less.

The writing is lovely too. The smallest details are enough to nurture vague affection into a deeper longing, like a seam slowly worked open, stitch by stitch - what a great sentence.

    1. *jazzhands back into the comments section 180 days later* Sorry, got stuck in a time loop of my own for a while there ;) But thank you so much for such a lovely comment!

I love how you describe Sauron as "certain" as well as "unaware" because honestly those two seemingly incompatible elements are so important to how I see Sauron--like buddy, you're totally sure you know anything, but you're kinda wrong. Okay, really wrong. MURDER IS BAD WHY IS THAT HARD TO UNDERSTAND
