Zack & Genesis are 3000% responsible for the date idea because Sephiroth is bad at socializing and he asked his friends (fellow clowns) for advice. Genesis heard that someone was willing to immediately hit Sephiroth after hitting him and decided that that was hilarious and he wanted that person around forever. Zack just honestly wants Sephiroth to develop more interpersonal relationships. Angela is happy for Sephiroth but he's absolutely gonna be beating up both Zack & Genesis for the mess this will cause in the future. He & Tifa become reluctant long suffering allies at some point.
