This is an absolutely FANTASTIC fic. I absolutely LOVE how you wrote Essek’s internal monologue, and both his and Caleb’s dialog… So compelling and so in-character. I love the moment of reversal, when Essek is so caught up in worrying that he’ll have to talk to Caleb about his disability, and then Caleb reveals his own limitations instead…. The way Caleb talks about his “madness” is both so heart breaking and so true to character, and the way he takes Essek’s disability in stride is so good. And the brief description of Caleb just pulling Veth into his lap and holding her for an hour when he needed that comfort… That made me so emotional. Everything about this was so so good.
