Comment on The Dragon-King's Temple

  1. I've reread this fic a number of times over the past years and it is one of my all time favorites. The writing is lovely, plot is so engaging, and all the foreshadowing fantastic. Something that stuck out this time was Janet's first reaction to Toph:

    "That was not the voice of someone intimidated or resigned. All the hair on the back of Janet’s neck stood at attention and then ran for cover.

    The girl cracked her knuckles, and out of the shadows of her hair came a manically gleeful grin that promised mayhem."

    You handle the language barrier so well throughout this story while still letting the character's personalities shine through in their observations and reactions to each other. And it shows, right from the beginning!

    1. Thanks! I think the language barrier actually helped, in a way - the characters had motivation to read each other much more carefully than they might have if they'd been talking from the beginning.
