I simply have no words- I don't know why I didn't realise how similar you'd put this to the situation we're dealing with right now- it's painful, yet wonderful to read this. I loved how you structured the entire thing- made every event effortlessly click, make me hope for their own good as if I was there dealing with it too. And Sans' arc, and how he got over it was great as well. I'm no sadist, but it'd be obvious the guy hides his pain to help out his brother, and losing someone as close as Toriel would cross the line- overflow the cup- metaphors. All in all, I won't take any more of your time to read this. It was a fantastic read, and this is coming from a person that only ever reads fluff. I've never been a sucker for bad endings, but a little variety only killed some people. But- this made me reflect a lot, and miss some people of my own. Can't say it was a bad story though- pretty good for a bedtime story, definitely dreaming about it. Cheers, though, have a good one!
Thank you very much for your feedback. I'm happy you took the time to diverge from your normal interests. And yes, writing about a pandemic during COVID was definitely a very emotionally risky move for everyone involved. If you read the first notes preceding the prologue and chapter 1, this was based off of a very strange nightmare that I had almost 7 months ago. Even so, this will resonate with a lot of people due to our still current situation, but unlike my fic, it's actually getting better.
PS: hope and also don't hope you cried too much when reading the ending. When I wrote it, it devastated me as well.
