Welcome back -- always a pleasure to have you stop by, and thank you so much for the kind words!
The opening of the film, where we see Bolt as a puppy in a shelter, surrounded by five other youngsters and getting adopted by Penny, really suggests all kinds of backstory possibilities. This seemed like an option with real promise, so glad it worked for you. There's definitely some sad and angsty bits, but everything turns out well for the little guys and for the trio of ribald females. My suspicion is that the pups won't see each other again, but that happens with littermates too. Ah well -- a touch of lingering angst, I guess. Agreed about "Seven Samurai" -- amazing film, and better than the admittedly watchable guilty pleasure that is "The Magnificent Seven." Personally, I'm with the lab puppy on this one.
