Yeah that part about the comics really pissed me off, like they're just like "Okay Zuko you're a traumatized 16-year-old, who's now going to rule the Firenation while basically, the entire government hates you because you ended the war, and the majority of the rest of the world hates you because your family is responsible for a century-long war, we won't help you a bit, and when you naturally get stressed and self-doubting and worried about what you're doing is wrong, like the good friends we are we'll agree to kill you :D. Then of course when things do go 'wrong' we're going to show off our supreme amount of faith in you because obviously, you've turned into a power-hungry maniac in the past year that as good friends, we clearly didn't have any contact with you (shown by the clear lack concern for Zuko's stressed ass) so rather than actually figuring out why you're doing what you're doing, we're just going to attack you! Sounds good amirite?". Honestly, the only people in the Gaang that were in character were Zuko, Katara, and Suki, but I think even Suki would do a better job at just figuring out what is going on and explaining this to Sokka and Toph. Those 2 honestly just pissed me off even more, like Toph literally said something along the lines of "a conversation won't stop him from being a power-hungry maniac" even though he wasn't doing anything wrong, and even though TOPH had faith in him at the WAT, and that just. didn't make a n y s e n s e. And DON'T get me started on Aang, god I'd be here all day. Anyway thanks for coming to my Ted Talk! :P
It's that Aang's promise would have made more sense (and potential) if any of the past Avatar controlled his actions or influenced him to do so. I mean, they have the plot that the situation is practically the same as that of Roku and Sozin, why didn't they take advantage of that? They could also have made a conflict more complex than one in which we all know that Zuko is right
I did get the impression that Roku was reacting to Zuko as if he were Sozin, and that's why the advice he was giving to Aang was the way it was. I don't think Roku was seeing Zuko for himself at all.
Quite. Iroh's behavior bugged me most, but Aang and most of the Gaang really bugged me. I severely disliked Toph, for one. As for Aang... puts head in hands. Aaargh!
