    This is so beautifully written yet so horrible.
    The characterization is spot on.
    Very nicely done.
    The end is satisfying, if only to give us reassurance that both of them have finally overcome that monster's tyranny.
    I was expecting a confrontation with Ozai, but ultimaltely, it seems interesting that there wasn't, as you have achieved a great feat and made him even worse than he was in canon.I guess any confrontation would probably have ended up leaving Mai more hurt.
    The cliffhanger ending is nice.
    It didn't feel forced nor did it feel like we were left with a lack of closure.

      Thank you for this wonderful comment. It's funny, we love confrontations. For some reason, we think if we ca just confront the person who hurt us, we can get closure, but that's never how it works, in my experience.
