I like your take on Asgard's non-involvement in the World Wars. I'm not sure why I didn't put that together with my decision to make the Aesir-Jotnar war a forty-year conflict in my headcanon, but it makes perfect sense. If I felt that that war needed to last a few decades to have had such a lasting impact on the culture of two species that live so long, then a war that lasts just a few years would seem pretty unremarkable. However, I do think that the Tesseract getting used would have caught their attention. Maybe the war had ended before they could finish Council deliberations on whether or not to take action.
Whoa, what? Did Thor get tricked into fighting on Team Nazi or something?
I headcanon it that Heimdall was keeping am eye on the Tesseract, but since there was a war Asgard wasn't gonna involve themselves just because it was weaponized... if humanity could find it, study it enough to weaponise it and built said weapons who was Asgard to interfere?
Yeah, to my understanding there was a one shot story from the mid 2000's where the Thule Society managed to summon Thor and convince him that - as the descendants of the ancient Germanic tribes who once worshiped him - he should help defend Germany against invasion. He fought a battle or two, realised the Nazis are the bad guys, wiped out the Thule cultists and returned to Asgard .... I read the synopsis on comic vine years ago.
