Sometimes when people write body swaps they do a wonderful job with having the characters exploring the new bodies and new ways of perceiving the world. Yours is the first I can recall that really gets into the power structure of the wolves and how Stiles is able to just shrug at Derek's dominating poopiness and tell him to fuck off. When Jackson rolls right with it then it's like something was finally right in the world. The dynamics of the pack were changed in ways that couldn't help but make an impact on everyone in the room.
I really love this, not just the characters and story, but the way that you work with the mythology and explore how it might be for a human with a powerful mind to deal with a wolf with a powerful body and supernatural characteristics. I really love the way Jackson is the first to explore Stiles' body in the way that he does, both having a sense of ownership over the body and carefree approach to pleasure. Stiles hides, misleads, disguises, lies. Jackson complains, berates, throws walls up. They couldn't help but get how transparent all those things were once they got thrown into each other's bodies.
If you ever decide you want to write more in this world, especially more body swaps, I'd love to see what you can do with the characters and the universe because I absolutely love this!
Just in case AO3 doesn't alert you, I posted some additional kudos to you and mentioned some of my other Jackson-featured faves: https://archiveofourown.org/comments/348847321
commenting a month later as I learn I had an inbox of comments waiting THANK YOU and that credit goes 100% to @eddiesdiaz (can I tag on ao3? does that work here?)
seriously, no one I know can get into Jackson's frame of mind nearly as well, it constantly leaves me in awe and really helps me flex my characterization muscles as well.
Yeah, I love eddiesdiaz's Tumblr, and I've read just about every available Teen Wolf story they've posted here. You're right; they do an amazing job having Jackson be a more whole and complete character than most of us (including myself) tend to be able to do.
If you're looking for more people who do a wonderful job with Jackson, I recommend tryslora's "It's Hard to Move Through Water" series. It is an emotional, delightful, and largely canon-compatible telling of Jackson's life starting early in S1. It's a psychological (mis)adventure featuring Jackson dealing with, well, everything, and Danny being his rock. It starts as Jackson & Danny and slow-burns into Jackson/Danny by the end. By the end of the first story, the stage is set for growing the Jackson/Danny into Jackson/Danny/Stiles and I love how she incorporates so much of canon throughout. It really works for me, and has one of my favorite descriptions of Jackson's full-shift wolf form of any that I've seen.
There's also the "Divided Loyalties" series by LennaNightrunner. This one moves to Stackson quickly, but the means by which this happens is unique and, I think, a powerful character exploration for both of them. For a story that gets into dom/subspace, it does a really good job dealing with the psychology of both characters and goes head-on into ensuring consent, mutual respect, and all kinds of other good stuff. Jackson and Stiles grow significantly throughout the series and deal with challenges and transformations of several kinds. If you read this and want a version with watermarks removed from the hosted images, let me know because the story was last updated in 2016 and Ph*t*bucket put tacky watermarks on the images.
