Comment on Ever The Same

  1. Hello! Just finished bingeing this series and I have to know how you wrote such a fantastic set!
Was it all planned out or did you just write it as it came while following the shows plot points?
Was it hard introducing characters from the future that knew more then those in the present?
How did you manage to work in the awesome new characters and scenarios with out mixing everything up? Every time I try to write a story I always end up having to keep notes on my own characters/plot points because I get them mixed up or forget something.
I loved reading this so much and I am really interested in the process you used to write it and keep everything in line! Thanks for writing! <3

    1. Well, first off, thank you - both for reading and commenting!
I'll try to answer your questions as best I can. Was it planned out? Very, very vaguely. I didn't start Run With You with the intention of making it a series, but I did know how I wanted Rose to be affected, and I knew the consequences of that. If I had an idea on how I wanted to change something, I made a note, or sometimes wrote a whole scene to pop in later. Some plot points (River, Donna and the Meta Crisis, the Ponds) didn't work in my world remaining as they were, so they had to be changed, and it just took thinking those out. Everything else was seeing what happened when you plopped Rose (and later Tim and Rory) into situations they weren't in before. My big take away from all that is that if you rewrite canon to change it, CHANGE IT :).
It was minimally difficult to introduce the characters with foreknowledge, but not terribly. Mostly because their foreknowledge was mine. River, for instance, I knew what I wanted her to be, and had the idea of how she changed back in Hold My Hand and so she was really easy to slide in there.
The fact that this series followed closest to canon made it easy to keep things from getting mixed up, but my biggest advice to you in that case is to go back and read your previous chapters. I know it sucks, especially if you aren't a fan of your own writing, but it helps and has the added bonus of making you like it more than you think. After all, the story came from your head, it's what you want, it's going to be awesome.
If you have any other questions, I will certainly try my best to answer them. If not, good luck with your project, I hope you enjoy it and get to the end. Do what's most comfortable for you, and don't stress the future details too much. :)

      1. Oh My Stars! Thanks for answering and for the advice!
I hit a lot of rough patches while writing and rereading/editing is a necessary evil lol, but this has motivated me to give it an extra Umph! Thanks again! And good luck with your future projects! <3 <3 <3

        1. Rough patches are the worst, but you'll get through them. :)
Try not to read it as an editor until you're done, though. Just read it to retain the information. :)
