Bittersweet is exactly what I was going for. That, and letting Maria Theresia call out Friedrich's famous quote about her with a slightly less but nonetheless authentic quote about him of her own. :) The "saving each other in little ways" was something that occured to me during writing and ended up as pretty much the red thread. they were the best of enemies.
