Comment on The Road Home

  1. As promised, I'm back for chapter-by-chapter reviews. This story is amazing; how could I not?

It was really clever to tell this from Enrique's point of view. We saw in the film that Miguel has a wonderful family, even if they had a hard time understanding him. I'm glad you've given them lots of screentime.

But Miguel... pobrecito, I'd be worried for him, too. He had a very traumatic experience and lost his confidant in the space if a week. That changes a person, especially a person as young as him. You used some really beautiful imagery to demonstrate the little ways his behavior shifted after Día de Muertos.

I'm about to fall asleep standing up, so I'll leave it there for now, but I can wait to re-read chapter 2!

    1. I love watching reactions, but I kept seeing people going on about how Miguel just had a terrible family and I kept thinking... are we watching the same movie? Because that was an extremely beloved kid who trusted and loved his family. So yeah... I think theyr'e an awesome family.

      1. If Miguel’s family was terrible, they wouldn’t risk everything to go look for him, so of course they love him!
