Comment on Bones, Picked Clean

  1. N'awwww~ I liked that ending. Poor darling deserved a little bit of light-hearted joking after the day they've had. Geez, I keep almost using gendered pronouns. You've done such a good job dodging the need for them that I can automatically assume the character and slide myself into place. It's not something I see done often. Personally, I'm terrible at avoiding situations wherein a gender pronoun is both necessary and clunky without.

I like the quote in the chapter summary. It's fair, and pretty true. I had a situation that made me feel that way last week, though the pain wasn't from something as intense as the poor reader character's background. The source of pain I had was still scary, though, because it could've lost me my friends. I was a pretty selfish kid, only thinking about not getting myself in trouble, so if I hadn't woken up to myself and apologised I'd likely be friendless right now.

[ * Sighs. ] There's a reason day-drinking is so frowned upon, gentlemen. Ugh. I'm glad Grillby's ok. We could've accidentally made our boss... die. HOLY CRANBERRIES, WE COULD'VE KILLED GRILLBY! Nooooo! He's such a dad, though! Well, then again, he could easily be any monster in that bar's father with the age the fandom agrees he is. Unless I missed something in game that specified how old he--- No, no, now I'm vaguely recalling an NPC stating that he's been around for QUITE a while. I think it was one of the guys at the bar? Fish guy? Bird guy? Horse guy?

I like that you gave Red his darker sense of humor. Most people don't have him throw anything other than dirty puns. He seems to have softened in the eyes of the fandom. That, and I don't tend to read things that would usually call for his darker sense of humor. It's a facet of his personality that makes perfect sense, but that I rarely see. I don't want to see it squashed just because he's in a slightly more peaceful place.

Poor reader, working themselves through the day without food, recuperation or sleep. I'm glad Grillby's such a dad, for their sake. Poor darling. I know I'm more prone to... less pleasant feelings, moods, and mindsets when I'm without two of those things. I hope they can catch a bit of a break after all of that! They need it and very much deserve it!
