Marco and Thatch have had just about enough of the Moby Dick's newest passenger. Whenever Ace isn't trying to kill Oyaji, he's driving the rest of the crew insane with his bizarre habits. They're not even sure if they've picked up a feral dog or a person anymore. Who the heck raised this kid, anyway? Wolves? Aventurine is having a pretty good day, all things considered. Sure, he’s on some planet in the middle of an abandoned star system, constantly stepping in what looks like fleshy, wriggling goop, and currently under attack by Voidrangers of the Antimatter Legion, but he has the incredibly good fortune of having the esteemed and venerable Doctor Veritas Ratio to accompany him.
The doctor’s here because it’s reading week, and he’d agreed to spend time with Aventurine instead of dealing with emails from students panicking over their upcoming midterms. He did look rather displeased when Aventurine surprised him over dinner with an IPC mission instead of a shared week off, but what was he expecting?
----
Aventurine and Ratio come up with a creative solution to retrieve an asset for the IPC.

Ghosts won't stop giving Xie Lian flowers, Hua Cheng won't stop teasing, and Xie Lian is out here doing his best, man.
Xie Lian is momentarily frozen. Outside of heaven, no one calls him Highness except in jest, and there was a time people threw flowers at his feet as if to make a carpet for him to walk upon, but those years are long past. “Thank you. This is a—a princely gift.”
The spirit’s black-pit eyes go wide and then he grins, revealing long, wicked teeth the color of tarnished silver. “Yes! Yes, I knew it was meant for his Highness.” The spirit nods to Hua Cheng, too, whose grin has widened to something almost obscene.
“Truly,” Hua Cheng agrees.
