He did it. Sunny finally told everyone.
It was difficult, and they had to leave out a lot of details, but he did it.
They told everyone how Sunny only took up violin to spend time with Mari. How Mari really wanted the recital to be perfect. How Sunny wasn’t good enough. How Mari and him were at the top of the stairs.
How Sunny threw the violin down the stairs.
How it broke.
How Mari soon followed.
(aka a super self indulgent post good ending fic where i put my own headcanons, project onto sunny maybe a little bit too much, try to make the forgiveness be both realistic but also soft because i just want them to be happy, and maybe give omori a bit of a redemption)

He broke the violin. Pitched it down the stairs to feel a brief sense of satisfaction as it smashed against the ground, the sheet music settling over it like snow drifting to the ground. He immediately regretted it.
Mari, getting ready in their room, came rushing out at the noise, and when she saw the mess, she began to yell. Sunny was frightened, Mari had never yelled at him before, but he argued back. He couldn’t yell, but he made his frustration known.
They both said things that they would regret. And Sunny, signing as he spoke as was his habit, used his hands to send a message.
Mari fell down the stairs.

Hero didn't know what to say after Sunny told them the truth. He didn't know how he could even begin to unpack everything that he had just learned. He was mad. He wanted to be mad, and he didn't know how to stop being mad.
Luckily, he didn't need to have the answers. Someone else had them for him.

“You are not fooling us.” Mira states, coldly.
“Where’s Rumi, demon?” Zoey hisses maliciously.
“What!? Zoey, Mira, it’s me!”
She takes a step back, hands raised. Her girls are behaving as if they saw her patterns, but… she made sure they were not visible?
“Zoey, look, we call Celine, she can confirm-”
“No need! Come on. We believe you.” Zoey cheerfully says, still smiling. “Rumi, everything’s OK. We were just thrown off by your ruined costume.”
“However…”, Zoey uses her left index finger to point down, “…your patterns are visible on your tummy.”
Horrified, Rumi looks down on her midriff, and lo and behold, three centimeters of jagged purple lines are visible on her skin!
“Bingo! How fun!” Zoey exclaims, her distraction working.
Rumi feels a hit on her left shoulder, something like a solid punch, not painful but it throws her off to the side making her stumble. She watches in fascinated disbelief the rear portion of a Shin-kal buried in her shoulder, with its gold filigree tassel gently swaying, blood darkening the fabric around the hilt.

This was typically the part where Rumi would be expected to introduce herself, but she didn't seem to give a flying fuck about what was expected of her if the way she still just stared even as Celine cleared her throat pointedly said anything.

Rumi squinted between them and the bag. "Why."
"Because as much as you don't seem to like us, we like you just fine."

"Well, come on. Aren't you going to bite somebody with those big sharp teeth of yours?" Mira prompted again with a raised brow, shaking Zoey's arm slightly, as if genuinely trying to entice Rumi to take a bite.
Instead of taking the proffered bait, Rumi turned her head away with a strong air of ‘well now I don't want to.'
"Thought so." Mira drawled, unimpressed. "Now how about you let us help you inside?"

There’s not much to be done about the blood variant of the disease—that one’s nasty, as one would expect when someone has plant matter gunking up their veins—but meditation and regular qi infusions help tamp down symptoms of all kinds. Best-case scenario, the feelings, and the need to share them, fade in time, and then huzzah, problem solved.
…Or, the person processes their emotions and, instead of disgorging flowers, spews their secrets to the person who caused their ailment and thus returns to health pretty much instantly! (Or so people say, but that cure’s not very common. Wei Wuxian can’t imagine why.)

The reason for this is nepotism, (or favoritism, or politics, different people call it different things). In any case, starting from the 100th floor, there are certain floors owned by the 10 Great Families. And naturally, being a part of one of these families might give you a big advantage.
Or, for their enemies, these tests become battlegrounds with their lives on the line.
