In-progress(?) and fantastic. The 'Nighteye Sees Past His All Might-Sized Prejudice Against Deku and Becomes a Good Fuckin' Teacher Like He SHOULD HAVE BEEN' fix-it I have been needing DESPERATELY. Seriously. The fact that these two analytic All Might super-fan nerdlings who should've gotten on like a house on fire were more like watching an especially horrific and easily-averted trainwreck interacting with each other in canon is nothing short of a friggin' tragedy. This is an excellent and realistic rendition of how their interactions could've been something really satisfying and amazing to watch. Highly recommend!

19-year-old Pro Hero Deku is in the middle of a fight when he suddenly finds himself thrown back in time to the attack on his class at the USJ. This makes no sense, but hey, he's had weirder things happen and people are in danger so kick villain butt first, figure out what the actual hell is going on later it is!
I find it hilarious that in a world where Eraserhead has only just met and known Deku for all of, like, ten minutes he still knows better than to believe the kid when he tries to insist he's 'fine.' The broken bones and coughing up blood after being backhanded across a field by a hulking monstrosity and hissing/glaring match he had while an inch from death pinned down by the leader of the villains attacking them -who the kid was definitely actively antagonizing at the time, WTF- probably wasn't helping Izuku's case though. At any rate, Aizawa does believe Midoriya later when he insists that Bakugo will need to be briefed on what's going on before he figures out just who the disturbingly familiar green-haired stranger who saved their asses was himself and everything is on fire, even if it is for equally obvious reasons. So, even if this fic never updates, the heartrending confrontation between Deku and Kachan is covered!

Well, they said he couldn't be a hero. Like, literally everybody said that. All Might said that. To his face. Harsh.
But hey, if vigilantism is essentially defined as 'fighting criminals without a license to use your quirk to do so' because they think it's impossible for someone without a quirk to do, well . . . pretty much anything, is it really Izuku's fault if he takes full advantage of this loophole for all he's worth to fulfill his dream of saving people, kicking ass, and taking names while technically not breaking any laws? Hardly.One sassy vigilante mentor is apparently all it takes for Izuku to get a wake-up call about his own self-worth, his ability to be a little shit, and that he need not take anybody else's shit. A confident, well-known, well-trained vigilante Izuko is now living his best life and Skirting the Law for Fun while also a Gen-Ed student at the Most Famous Hero School Ever. What could possibly go wrong, and just how much faster is Aizawa gonna go gray eventually having to deal with THIS version of Izuku?

The line of Midoriya’s shoulders goes taut as a wire. “Hi,” he says, but he’s got his face angled down, not quite meeting the other kid’s eyes.
Like he’s waiting for something terrible to happen.

Shinso finds out about Izuku's Tragic Backstory, and how in a lot of ways it's disturbingly familiar. Well, now HE feels like an asshole for assuming the other kid had no idea what it was like to grow up looked down on and treated like dirt and . . . crap. He's gonna have to quit being a jerk and give in to this whole friendship thing now that they've bonded, isn't he? Damn it.

“Deku,” he says warningly, glaring at the approaching teen.
In a fascinating display of his lack of self-preservation skills, Midoriya unceremoniously sticks an adhesive cool compress on Bakugou’s forehead. Bakugou lets out an impressive string of curse words that has heads turning, and Midoriya uses the opportunity to stick another one on the back of Bakugou’s neck.
“Quit whining, Kacchan,” Midoriya says so firmly that Kaminari knows his jaw isn’t the only one that promptly fell open. “You know these help.” And then he walks back to the kitchen like nothing happened.
“That was the most amazing thing I ever saw,” Kaminari says quietly.

Seven years ago, after All Might's injury and the lack of rescue or even the picking up of any slack in his absence by other heroes, he becomes disillusioned by Heroics and decides to turn Anti-Hero by taking the quirk All For One. He still winds up meeting and being impressed by Tiny Ball of Adorable Heroism and Absolutely Zero Self-Preservation Skills and/or Smart Life Decisions Izuko, and decides to share his new power with the kid and mentor him in heroics. Izuku is not given a choice in the matter. And, as an aspiring hero, he is somewhat less than thrilled about learning that he's just been forcibly given a quirk that steals others and will now have to spend his time learning from a self-proclaimed villain.
Unfinished but fascinating series, would recommend!
