It’s funny, because Dazai has always been curious. Always wanting more, and more, and more. He was greedy and he was selfish, wanting to absorb every bit and piece of knowledge. Let it sink into his skin like the scars under his cotton bandages. He always just had to know, because he felt like if he didn’t then he was doing something wrong. That he was vulnerable and he wasn’t safe. It was an ugly, rotten, human, feeling.
And Dazai wasn’t human, but for some reason it clung to him like the blood that tainted his hands. Like the shadow of a man who was always there, even if he wasn’t.
Despite how much Dazai teases Kunikida for his schedule, Dazai does not like change.

Izuku did not plan on being a ward to an underground hero, let alone outliving his father, but he did both. He did not plan to be taken in, did not plan to get clean, and definitely did not plan to be situated at a hero school that haunted his dreams. He had been planning to kill a few people, grudges and vengeance and all that. But more importantly, and more currently: he planned to kill the current head of the yakuza.
It was terribly easy to do, actually.
(or: izuku is more than just a child with an unnerving quirk. he is a child with an unmatchable one.)

But then he realises that, if he's back in the past, he finally has the chance to protect the people he couldn't the first time around. No more needless injuries or death. He forgets that there are consequences to his actions beyond the safey of the people he cares about. He also underestimates just how much the war has changed him, and how much his teachers are worried for and scared of him.
