Summary
There are cops in the ED when Dennis arrives for his shift.
Not necessarily unusual, sure, but he could've done without the unwelcome news that there's a knife-wielding maniac on the loose in their immediate vicinity.
Figures this would happen on a Monday.

"Tell me something that brings you comfort."
"Something that brings me comfort?" Robby shot back, his tone mocking the frivolity of it, because he never was one to just follow directions.
"Yes," Gene said, eternally unfazed. "It can be the smallest thing, whatever comes to mind."
What came to mind was: Pens games, the trails at Frick Park, the rare book collection in the Oliver Room at Carnegie Main, a cortado at Sage Caffe. But what he said was: "Jack."
...wait. Shit.

Summary
"Congrats again on the award; you deserve it." And with that, she disappeared into the crowd.
Probably off to go plan how to hit on Jack. Jack, who this random doctor wanted to have sex with. Here. At the conference.
Intellectually, Robby knew that was what people did at these things. Drunken hookups at conferences were common, though often denied, if not regretted. Robby had never partaken because that was not his speed, but Jack—
Well, Jack had no such qualms. And at an ED medical conference, he was basically a rockstar. He could probably have anyone he wanted.

Summary
Jack had just stepped back onto the main floor when he clocked movement at the ambulance entrance, two guys hurrying in, the smaller one helping a guy with a sweatshirt covered in blood. But something was wrong, some unnamable instinct rising within Jack at the way they moved. It was too fluid, too controlled. Jack knew what the walking wounded looked like, had seen it for years, from war zones to bar fights. This wasn't the injured seeking help; this was men hunting.
Time slowed, Jack's heart rate spiking, the adrenaline dump casting everything in sharp relief—the full ED floor, patients plus shift change meaning twice the usual personnel were here.
Robby was here.
That thought got him moving, Jack approaching laterally. He got there right as the guns came out.

Summary
“We’re going to yes-and each other to death. That’s how we’re going to die. They’ll have a funeral for us, and they’ll erect a monument that’ll read, ‘Here lies the Devil together with his Minion, who never lost a dare or a game of Gay Chicken in their lives, and who perished in the fallout of a kinky nuclear arms race. Rest in pieces, freaks.’”
***
In which Daniel takes his turn holding the reins, Armand gets to rest while processing his trauma with as much kink as possible, almost no one in the coven bats an eye at their antics, and love unlocks eternity.

Summary
In which Daniel Molloy pulls himself together (then has another nervous breakdown, then pulls himself together again), Armand doesn't know what a 3D printer is, Benji has a Plan (of which Step H is roughly shaped like the movie The Parent Trap), and nobody here can keep their noses out of each other's business.
(Or: In which the author is on a holy crusade to right the wrongs Anne committed in Blood Communion, such as not mentioning Daniel even once.)
***
“People call in sometimes, and they say, ‘Whatever happened to the Vampire Daniel, anyway?’ What am I supposed to say, you know? ‘Oh, Daniel Molloy? Yeah, he lives in my house, he’s got a room up in the attic with some mad science experiments or something, we’re blood relatives, but I don’t know what’s going on with him; we don’t talk.’ Come on. That’s not responsible journalism. The people want to know!”

--His clothing was expensive and stylish;
--He wore very strange but noticeable cologne;
--His relationship to the seat he occupied could only, very loosely, be described as “sitting;”
--He looked angry;
--He was wearing sunglasses.What Aubrey Thyme, a professional, thought, upon first seeing her new client was: you’re going to be a fun one, aren’t you?

[SPOILERS TO C4E19.]
“Copper for your thoughts?” Julien asks him.
The voice he uses makes Azune do a double-take, low and personable. He finds himself short on words for a second, but forces himself to rally. “I’m trying not to think about anything.”
Julien laughs. “I know that feeling.”
Azune is fully capable of not being weird about this turn in the conversation, and he needs to start putting it that skill to work. “It’s been a fucked up few weeks.”
Julien’s eyes are on his drink. “Yes. It has.” He swirls his glass, watching the rich, dark liquid undulate in the candlelight. “You’re a lot taller now.”
Azune blinks. “I mean. Yeah. I guess I am.”
“Well, I’m not.”
Azune had noticed. “I hadn’t noticed.”
“Really? I assumed that was what you were staring at all night.”
Azune’s nerves start to clamor. “I didn’t mean any offense.”
For the first time, Julien turns to look at him. “I didn’t take any offense.” The playful smirk on his lips is spellbinding. “Much like your height, I just thought it deserved comment.”

Summary
[SPOILERS TO C4E18.]
“I never really thought about it before, but I think I might like pain,” Occtis tells him. “Maybe I even liked it before, but always got too lost in all the other feelings the world had to offer to notice it. But now it’s the only feeling that I have. So I think I want to… possess it. To hold it in my hand and do with it how I see fit.”
It occurs to his social brain that every word of that confession was more alarming than the last, but it has only served to turn Julien’s expression into something avaricious and gleaming. “My ribs are still quite bruised,” he murmurs. “Be my guest.”
Occtis takes a moment to sort through his thoughts on the matter. He can hear voices from the women’s tent, but they sound faraway and untroubled.
“Your pain tolerance is good,” he decides aloud. “I trust you not to make any sound.”
“Of course I can be quiet,” Julien assures him in a honeyed tone. He assumes a more relaxed pose, resting comfortably on his side. “Go on, then. What are you waiting for? I despise cowardice in all its forms—so don’t disappoint me.”
