TLDR: ROTTMNT’s “Mind Meld” disturbs me because it uses science, however painless, to “fix” people with neurodivergent tendencies, and this reminds me of both my own experiences and the dangers of ableist misrepresentation.

Summary
I devolved into an ugly spiral of depression recently that I traced back to digging into my celebrity crush's social media account. There he was looking so happy with his fam. It was completely adorable.
And I started feeling like shit.Carefully curated social media images can sometimes lead to depressing comparisons and destructive wishful thinking. And I believe it is more pervasive and more damaging (at least to me) when I’m looking at the lives of my celebrity crushes. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe it’s just me. And I suppose that’s okay if it is. But my celebrity crushes look so beautiful and polished and their lives seem so happy that I feel the long claws of envy digging into me every time I see them.

Why Do Non-Canon Ships Become So Popular? (And Why Should Writers Rethink When They Do?) by sarehptar
Fandoms: Avatar: The Last Airbender, Voltron: Legendary Defender, 僕のヒーローアカデミア | Boku no Hero Academia | My Hero Academia

Summary
A vaguely academic examination of the phenomena behind fandom shipping and why certain non-canon ships become exceedingly popular, far overshadowing the popularity of canon ships. This essay touches on common mistakes writers make with female characters and romantic subplots, and suggests a explanation for the enduring popularity of so many m/m ships which have no chance at all of becoming canon. Examples are drawn from Avatar the Last Air Bender, Voltron Legendary Defender (god help me), and My Hero Academia.

In the wake of 50 Shades of Grey by E.L. James, a current bestselling novel that started life as Twilight fanfiction, questions about are being asked. If the only difference between a piece of fanfiction and a bestselling novel is the changing of character names and places, then is the deletion stories without warning something that should be bigger news?

Summary
Wherein we discuss the differences between Sex and Gender and what it means to be an Alpha, Beta, or Omega from both a biological and socio-cultural point of view.
Specifically for those who don't understand the Omegaverse, or haven't thought very far ahead in their worldbuilding. This is how I imagine this universe, because it doesn't make any sense to me as it is. Covers tricky subjects such as: Alpha and Omega Females, gender-switched pairs (Such as Alpha-Female/Omega-Male or vice versa), the importance of Betas, ABO evolution, sexism and gender-prejudices, alternative sexualities and more!
