Chapter 1: Sharing is Caring

Chapter Text

Son of a B$@%&!”

“Thanks… Kinger.”

“No problem, Pomni!”

“Oh, hi guys! Did you watch the movie yet?”

Pomni let out a sigh of defeat as she began to walk towards the theatre. She shook off Kinger’s spoilers, trying to look forward to the movie experience itself.

It’s been a rough few weeks, and she was looking forward to doing something relaxing for once- even if that meant having to watch themselves on the big screen for the next hour and a half.

“You know what, Jax? It’s okay. We can still enjoy the-“
Pomni stopped, realizing he wasn’t still next to her. She turned her head and saw him picking up the soda cup he threw.

“Ugh, Kinger made me throw my drink. Hang on a sec, lemme go get a new one,” Jax said with an annoyed tone.

“Kinger didn’t- ugh, alright. Go get another one. Oh wait, Jax?”

He turned around and raised an eyebrow at her.

“Could you grab me one, too? I changed my mind.”

“Whatever you say, Pomni,” Jax said with a scoff.

She rolled her eyes, and took a few more bites of her popcorn as she waited.

Jax stood at the concession counter, peering impatiently at the NPC’s working until it was his turn to order.

“Hey, can you get me another drink? …Oh, make it two, actually.”

“Two drinks comin’ right up!”

The NPC pulled the two cups out of nowhere, handing them to Jax.

“…thanks,” he said flatly as he snatched them from the NPC.

Jax turned to walk back towards Pomni, but hesitated. He looked down at the two drinks in his hands, his eyes widening.

He looked back up at Pomni from across the room. She was distracted by her popcorn as she studied the movie poster on the wall.

He felt his pupils grow.

He looked down at the drinks once more, and swiftly threw one behind his shoulder onto the ground.

Jax sauntered back over to Pomni, a smug grin stretched across his face.

“Oh, Jax, you’re back! Come on, we’re gonna miss the-“

“Wait, weren’t you gonna get me a drink, too?”

“Oh, yeah. They were all out.”

Pomni narrowed her eyes at him, knowing full well that was 100% BS.

“Whatever, Jax. Come on.”

Pomni and Jax eventually found their theatre, surprised that the rest of the room was completely empty.

“You sure this is the right one?” asked Jax.

“Well, yeah! It says right here on our tickets… theatre number 57.”

“Huh. I guess Caine didn’t bother filling the seats with NPC’s this time,” Jax said, plopping himself down into a center seat. “Nice.

“Wait! That’s not the right seat number.”

“Oh my Goddd, it’s fine. Didn’t we just conclude that it’s only the two of us?”

Pomni looked around once more.

“I suppose you’re right,” she said, sitting down in the seat beside him.

The lights dimmed shortly after, and the two settled in to get comfortable.

“Oh yeah, sorry ‘bout the soda thing. Looks like we’re gonna have to share this one~” Jax said with a smirk as he offered her the cup.

“You’re. Offering to share with me?”

She looked at the cup suspiciously.

“How do I know that things not gonna, like, explode in my face or something? You drink it first,” she said, a hint of playfulness that Jax picked up on.

Ouch! You really think I’d mess with you like that?!”

“Uh. Yeah, actually.”

“Alright, alright, fair enough,” said Jax, taking a small sip. “There. Now you.”

Pomni took the cup, cautiously taking a smaller sip. She gave Jax a side eyed glance as she handed it back.

The smile he gave her seemed unexpectedly… genuine.

“See? You’re fiiine.”

“Mhm, sure…”

The movie began, and the two sat quietly.

Pomni ultimately deemed the soda safe, occasionally taking sips as the cup sat on the armrest between them.

After a few minutes, she looked down to see Jax’s hand pawing through her bag of popcorn.

“Hey! I didn’t say we could share the popcorn, why didn’t you get your own?!” she whispered irritably.

“What! I got hungry,” he whispered back.

She sighed, but didn’t have the heart to stop him.

She couldn’t remember the last time she saw him this happy.
