Intoxicating

Summary:

It's been two weeks in Oakhurst, and Abolish is already fed up with it all. In an effort to take his mind off the hell that was the old town, he goes out for a drink only to find he's not the only one with the same idea.

Work Text:

There was always the threat of vampires being in Oakhurst; he’d been warned of such before he ever embarked on this mission. Yet, there were four now— double the original count, and it didn’t seem like the spread was going down anytime soon. All he was trying to do was make his parents a grave, and maybe root through some old tombs because Monocart had asked him to. It has been two weeks since he’d arrived here, and this whole thing was only giving him a headache; this was not what he’d signed up for. Avid's screamings in particular were getting on his nerves. So maybe a drink would help.

He’d seen Ren and Martyn leave the bar earlier, and had spotted Sausage out with the doc a little after, so it should be just him. Good. Abolish preferred to drink alone if it wasn’t with Monocart or someone from the organization; he had too many things to hide from others, too many secrets to keep. He took out a small lockpick, assuming the tavern to be latched closed. However, he quickly found the door to be not only unlocked, but slightly open. Abolish bristled slightly at the prospect of someone being inside. Pressing the door open slightly, the creaking sound filled the hollow air; cautious steps as Abolish walked into the bar.

There was someone at the counter, atop a stool that wasn’t quite tall enough for their lanky form. They slumped against the top of the wooden countertop. He wasn’t sure if they were passed out or not, but from the smell alone they were obviously drunk. Of all the vampires to be crashed out in the pub, he was glad it was this one. They were much more docile, and much more intriguing than the others.

“Pyro?” Abolish called softly, continuing towards him, “are you… awake?”

He grumbled incoherent words into the fabric of his sleeve before getting somewhat upright, turning and leaning slightly with a drooped head that stared at him. He blinked slowly.

“…‘Bolish..?” They asked through slurred speech.

“Gosh, how much have you had?”

Abolish sat down on the stool beside the vampire, who leaned against the counter once more. Pyro yawned before he grabbed the handle of a half empty glass, eyes still looking over Abolish’s form like he kept forgetting who was in front of him. He gave no audible response, just held up a hand, four fingers outward and his thumb half tucked. What was that supposed to be? Four and a half? Abolish sighed lightly, and reached over to take the glass from Pyro. They immediately complained, grumbling and even hissing at the theft. They were, however, too drunk to do anything about it, and at most pawed harmlessly as he tried to take it back.

“No, you’re done for the night.” He said, setting the glass far from him.

“Nooo…” he drawled, “you're supposed to get drunk with me, ‘Bolish.”

“Am I?”

“Yeah~ You're here so obviously you came to get drunk!”

“That’s what you came to do then?”

“Obviously. It’s been so much I just— I just needed a drink. And I know better than to go through Sire’s wine collection.”

The term raised an eyebrow.

“Sire?”

“Scott.”

“Well I presumed— just surprised you called him that.” He replied, “sire is… well… not a typical thing to actually call them.”

“I know.” He said, “they already told me about the whole thing. Outdated, they said. I dunno, I just call him what he is. Anything to make him pleased.”

Abolish frowned lightly, eyebrows knitting together. He didn’t like the idea of Pyro being forced to walk on eggshells for some stuck up rich boy.

“You know, I wasn’t even sure if I still could get drunk.” He bumbled on, “I’m glad I can. Sick and tired of this whole thing.”

They stopped, then turned to better face him; messy and tousled chestnut strands fell half over his face, his bangs less than corporative.

“Abolish.” He said sadly, “I’m a vampire.”

He only nodded. By now it was obvious of that fact— at least to less dense townsfolk… and Avid, he supposed. It was nice to hear it from him though… an act of trust, even if it was a drunken one. Pyro however, seemed unaware of the status of knowledge. His eyebrows pitched upward and he gave the most heartbroken look possible.

You know? God, am I that bad at hiding it?”

Abolish wanted to reassure him, but didn’t know how to without blatantly lying. It wasn’t like the Oakhurst vamps were the worst at covering their identities, but they were far from the best.

“You just talked about your Sire, Pyro.” He replied, “so-“

“No, but you aren’t supposed to know what that means—“

“Mr.Schollar thinks he’s the only learned man?”

“No— I just— bleugghhh~”

Pyro let out some guttural sound, complaining wordlessly as he leaned back. Abolish sprung forward and tried to catch him, but was a hair too late, just ending up watching as Pyro fell from the stool, tumbling over and taking the furniture along with him. They hit the floor with a thud and groaned, rolling over to the side as he tried to detangle his legs from the stool’s. Abolish winced at the sound as he’d hit the floor.

“Pyro—” He scolded teasingly.

He stood from his chair, glancing at the half empty glass before taking it down with him into the floor. He sat beside him, sitting cross legged as the other lay on the floor. He took a drink, watching as they kicked away the stool from himself. He grimaced at the taste and Abolish’s gaze flicked down to the glass he’d taken from Pyro. Damn, these were strong— and Pyro of all people had four of these? He looked back up to see the vampire staring at him blankly.

“You're pretty.”

His eyes widened. “Sorry?”

“You’re pretty,” they repeated.

Pyro thought he was pretty? He really was drunk. Abolish hummed softly before taking another drink, Pyro giving him a wide smile.

“Yay!” He cheered, “you're getting drunk with me~”

“Pyro, it takes quite a bit for me to get drunk.” Abolish said, not mentioning that it was his training at the organization that had helped him outgrow such lightweightness, “and you know, you were way too excited saying that.”

“Well it’s no fun drinking alone— and hey, I can work with ‘takes quite a bit to get you drunk’. Hell, you can have four drinks too! Five if that’s what it takes!”

“Why are you so avid about getting me drunk?” He asked, taking another swig of the glass.

He’d come to get a drink and he wasn’t going to change his plans from Pyro’s presence. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he hoped that he’d get drunk enough to make some bad decisions— especially given the man before him. He denied it any thought, however, allowing his more logical side to make decisions. Getting drunk wasn’t the move, but half the glass should at least get him buzzed, and Abolish could still function like that.

“No fun to drink alone.” He repeated, stretching out across the floor.

“I’ll stay with you, maybe finish this drink,” he raised the half empty glass, “but I’m not getting drunk with you.”

“Whaaaaaaat?” He drawled, “why not?”

“Well, since you’re absolutely wasted, I’m gonna be the one making sure you get home safely.”

Pyro froze, frowning.

“I don’t wanna go home.”

“You don’t have to go now.”

“No— no, no I don’t— I’m not going back, Abolish!”

His fervor came with a mix of fear and stubbornness as he spoke. He shifted on the floor, laying on his back and staring up into the arched wooden roof of the tavern.

“Not to the Castle, not to the Capital, not to my home with Apo— I’m not going.”

Abolish hummed softly.

“Are you planning to live here then..?”

“No…”

“Then you can crash at my place. We can figure things out in the morning when you’re not drunk as all hell.”

“You’d— really?”

They turned his head toward him, eyes wide like some dog giving puppy eyes in an attempt toward a treat. Abolish only nodded, trying to stop a thin smile from forming. Pyro seemed so happy, but it didn’t last long before their expression shifted once more.

“No…” he muttered, shaking their head and looking back up to the ceiling, “no I— I shouldn’t. The others, they… they’ll wonder where I've been-“

“Well why aren't they here with you to begin with; the other vamps?” He questioned, “Maybe not Scott or Owen but not even Shelby? They seem like she’d go for a drink with you—“

Pyro didn’t respond to the actual question, paying more attention to the name dropping than anything.

“You know about them too?” They groaned.

“It’s my job to know. That, and you’re all not that good at hiding it.”

“You're job? Like… being a butler?”

Abolish laughed lightly, there was no way Pyroscythe was gonna remember this in the morning; there wasn’t any risk in telling him, he supposed.

“No, I’m not a butler. I’m undercover.”

“Undercover?” They muttered, “you're a spy..? That's hot.”

Hot?

“I’m not a spy. I’m more… more of an agent. I work for a shadow organization that manages vampire activity.”

“You’re in a… you're… manages vampire..” Pyro’s voice trailed off drunkenly.

“We kill the bad vampires, help the good ones,” he simplified.

A blink, then slow contortion of his face, and Pyro let out a strangled noise.

“Ohhhhhhhhh… you're gonna kill me.”

He curled up slightly on the floor, drawing his hands against his chest protectively. If Abolish wasn’t imagining things, there were tears that welled in their eyes.

“Pyro, I’m not going to—“

“Nooo you're— you— you know what a monster I am— you—  you know what I’ve done; you're gonna stake me—“

Their voice hitched between sobs.

“Pyro… Pyro, I’m not going to kill you.”

Abolish set down the glass and reached a hand toward him, resting it on their shoulder. They flinched, before relaxing slightly. His whines and breathing slowed, but he still looked crushed and terrified; something that made Abolish’s heart twist. No one that handsome should have such an expression.

“You're not?”

“I’m not, no.”

They sniffed, swallowing down another sob. Abolish gave a thin smile, his thumb rubbing a soft shape into his shoulder before pulling away. Pyro’s expression softened as he stared at Abolish.

“Why?”

“You don’t deserve death, Pyro.”

“I do. I really do, Abolish.”

He shook his head, “no, you don’t.”

“I’ve killed, Abolish.”

“So have I.”

A slight change in his face, something he couldn’t quite read. A moment later, however, he cringed slightly.

“I can hear you blink,” he blurted.

What?”

God, he was so drunk.

“I can hear you blink. And I can hear your heartbeat. And our breaths. And the creaking floor, and the settling frame, and the squeaking of the stupid rat in the corner that won’t shut up, but refuses to show its little whiskers, and— and it’s so much. All the time.”

“Oh…” Abolish hummed softly, shifting closer to them, “Pyro… it’s normal for a new-turn to—“

“—do you think I’ll forget?”

“Sorry..?”

“Am I drunk enough, Abolish?” They spouted, “Will I forget? I’ve been trying— I’ve— I wanna— just like that night—“

“What night?”

Abolish helped Pyro sit up, taking one of the man’s hands.

“The— when Scott bit me.” He pressed his left hand to the side of his neck. “It’s still… don’t remember but it’s still… its… unhealed.“

Unhealed? What the hell does he mean ‘unhealed’? Vampires heal almost instantly— even the turn bite should’ve closed within the hour. Abolish was already frazzled by Pyro’s strange jumps in conversations, the topics of them only aided in his confusion.

“What..?” Abolish asked, “Can I see? It should’ve healed long, long ago, Pyro--”

He reached toward Pyro and he pulled back slightly, frowning. Abolish watched as his hand moved around the should-be scar, groping and pulling the skin. Slowly, he rested his hand above Pyro’s, taking his and pulling it away from his neck. With a soft exhale, Pyroscythe’s tense nature soothed, their hand grabbing onto his, and Abolish was able to see the wound better. It wasn’t bleeding, and Pyro didn’t act as if it hurt at all, but he was right; it wasn’t healed. Well, not closed at least. He took his free hand and examined the wound, his thumb pressed against the outside of the marks and stretched it outwards as he tried to better evaluate.

“Pyro, have you been doing that often..?” he muttered, “messing with the bite?”

They shrugged lightly, preoccupied with tracing shapes into his hand. Abolish took the response a yes.

“Well--” he started, “good news is it’s healed. Just-- not normally.”

Pyro looked at him aimlessly, waiting for him to explain.

“You’ve pulled the wound apart so the flesh didn’t mend properly. However, vampiric healing still fixed up the wound.” He hesitated, “Your skin has grown over and around the exposed muscle; you have two holes in your neck.”

Pyro looked down, eyebrows knit together with fogged thought.

“Oh.” he said finally, “huh.”

The vampire looked back up to him, his expression surprisingly calm. Pyro then titled his head to the side, getting his face closer to Abolishś hand on his shoulder as he pulled their entwined hands toward his chest.

“You’re warm.” he muttered.

God, the guy kept jumping from one thing to the next-- was this always how fast his mind went? Abolish wondered vaguely when they would get back to a relatively linear conversation.

“I suppose so.” He agreed, “Vampires don’t have body heat so--”

¨--can I hug you?”

Abolish froze, staring at him. Pyro… wanted to hug him? He was cold. Of course he was cold-- but he wanted to hug him? Abolish? This strange sensation drew within him; something writhing within his gut and around his throat. He got this way around Pyro at times… still didn’t know what it meant. Well… he had a guess--

“I-- sure.”

Less than a second later and Pyro was wrapped around Abolish, humming softly. Slowly, Abolish’s stunned nature relaxed and he adjusted to better encompass the vampire. He was cold. It was sort of nice… soft and cooling. Pyro pushed further into him, his forehead pressed against his neck. The two were hardly matching puzzle pieces, what with Pyro being tall and lanky while Abolish was relatively short, yet they embraced comfortably. It was nice, within his arms; it was nice, having his arms around him. Pyro rested his entire weight on the other man, which was astoundingly less than he’d expected. He wondered if the vampire had been eating enough— he wasn’t to the third level yet, which meant he most likely wasn’t. A soft thought whispered that he could help with that, one he pushed out of his mind, at least for now.

“Let’s get you out of here,” Abolish muttered, adjusting his grip on the vampire.

Pyro nodded lazily against his shirt. He returned the nod and shifted once more, trying his best to lift Pyro up and off the floor. He’d been aiming to carry them, but Pyro’s height allowed that to become a much more difficult endeavor. Instead, he opted to retain the man at his side, aiding him in walking. They stumbled alongside him as they made their way out of the tavern; abandoning the empty cups on the counter and the one on the floor.

Once to the familiar structure that was Abolish’s home, he took a hand from Pyro’s form to open the door, muttering an invitation to the vampire before dragging him inside. They got into the home with relative ease, considering Abolish had to release Pyro and force him to lean on the wall in order to close the door and lock it behind them. He heard mumblings from Pyro and a second later a scuffling sound. He left the keys in the lock and looked over to the drunken man. They were on their knees, still braced against the wall as he yawned, blinking slowly. A soft smile tugged on Abolish’s lips and Pyro’s gaze refocused not long after. Their eyes held onto Abolish’s image; glued to the man by some force stronger than alcohol.

“‘Bolish..” he murmured, slurring the name slightly, “God. You're so pretty.”

A strange shift in feeling arose within Abolish’s face; a soft flush peppering his ears and cheeks. He tried to shake the feeling off. Pyro didn’t quite mean any of this— they were drunk, and would probably say such things to anyone near him.

“Beautiful,” he muttered again, “you’re so beautiful, Abolish.”

They sat up on his knees, no longer relying on the wall for support. He shifted closer to him and reached upwards, hands settling softly, graciously, on Abolish’s hips. Pyro looked up at him with a thin smile, admiration and what seemed to be lust within his eyes. Abolish’s heart skipped a beat, putting a hand to Pyro’s shoulder and guiding them away from him gently.

“Pyro!” He gaped, “what are you doing?”

“Getting on my knees for you~”

“You’re drunk!”

“So..?”

“Pyro…”

Abolish sunk to the ground, moving his hand from his shoulder to the side of his face. Pyro leaned into the touch, eyes closed as they hummed softly; hands still at his waist.

“Pyro, no.”

They looked at him through lidded eyes adorned with a sorrowful expression.

“‘Bolish…” he whined.

“No. You're drunk, and a mess of one at that; I’m not— you're not— no. No.”

He didn’t get words in response, only a quiet grumble as he averted their eyes. His heart twisted, yearning for something he couldn’t quite name. At this point, he knew it resembled something akin to affection.. something far greater than he’d ever felt before.

“Hey,” Abolish mumbled, brushing a thumb across his cheek.

Pyro looked up.

“Let’s get you to bed before you pass out, eh?”

A sad look, but a nod. Abolish did the same and adjusted to help the vampire up off the ground. Pyro allowed himself to be hauled upwards, keeping his arms around Abolish; an action was something the man hadn’t opposed. They buried their head in the crook of Abolish’s neck as he helped them toward the bedroom. A soft hum as they embraced him, using him as support. He guided him into the room and onto the bed. Pyro slumped onto the matress; something new in Abolish’s household. He rolled slightly, stretching out atop the comforter. Abolish exhaled a soft laugh as he watched the vampire squirm around like a cat, trying to get more comfortable.

“You can stay here,” he said, “but you’re not wearing your shoes in my bed, you hear?”

Pyro nodded and mumbled into the cloth of the pillow. Abolish shook his head lightly and moved to remove his shoes, then his jacket as well. Once off he set them beside the bed and moved back to Pyro, he took the blankets they’d shoved aside while wriggling around and brought them up and over him. He hummed, a soft smile on his face. They looked so— happy; nothing like the shell-shocked man he’d been turned into. It was nice… seeing him like this. Before he could think better of it, he reached over and brushed hair out of their eyes. He looked up at him, crimson irises underneath full eyelashes. Abolish could still remember their original striking blue, it was a color he found himself thinking back too far too much; how their eyes crinkled when they laughed and smiled.

“Sleep well, Pyro.”

They let out a small huff, and as Abolish turned to leave, grabbed onto his sleeve. He glanced back at him, Pyro tugging at the fabric.

“Noooooo….” He grumbled, “don’ leave~”

“Pyro…”

“Nooohhh…”

Their face had lost all the enthusiasm it contained before, eyebrows knitted together and mouth slightly agape in a frown. Abolish’s heart twisted; he looked toward the door once more, then back to Pyro. He sighed, and removed their hand from his sleeve. Abolish moved away from the vampire, rounding the bed and slipping off his own adornments— coat, vest, tie, and shoes— before sitting down on the opposite side of the bed. As he settled into the mattress, getting under the comforter and blankets, Pyro let out a sound of joy and scrambled to him. Before he knew it, the vampire was wrapped around him, head pressed into his chest; he should’ve known.

A soft smile tugged at Abolish’s face, wrapping his own arms around him. Pyro nuzzled into his chest, humming softly. No-- not humming; purring. Abolish knew bats could purr, he knew vampires could in turn, but to hear the soft vibrations within their chest was completely different than knowing. To hear, to feel, such a raw display of emotion was incredible. He’d always been a cat person, but this was so much more than a cat’s purr. This was knowing Pyro felt comfortable. This was knowing Pyro felt safe. This was knowing Pyro felt happy. He was all of these things within the arms of Abolish, who preferred to believe that exclamation over any other factors.

His eyes closed gently, and he allowed himself to press closer to Pyro, whose purring only grew louder. They shifted within his embrace, nuzzling his head into his shoulder. Abolish had seemed to have forgotten about the man’s vampiric nature, given the way he so warmly accepted the affection. Pyroscythe leaned further into him, pressing a kiss to pale, freckled skin. They continued the action, peppering Abolish’s skin with soft drunken kisses, working his way from the base of his neck up to his jaw. Abolish should’ve reasonably pulled away, or at least told them to stop— he didn’t. Some feeling twisted in his gut; some cocktail of guilt and bliss within. Pyro’s gestures of affection trailed further along his jaw to the base of his ear, planting soft lips behind it. A pleased sigh escaped from Abolish, a kind shiver running through him.

Pyro shifted once more, adjusting himself so their chest was pressed atop his, legs entangled slightly. The added contact told Abolish that Pyro was not particularly a horny drunk, simply overly affectionate and clingy. His kisses changed as they took Abolish’s earring between his lips, tugging softly.

“Pyro~” he breathed, “no…”

They hummed softly, moving on from his ear to press his kisses closer to Abolish’s lips.

“Pyro…”

Their lips teased the side of his, and guilt and shame writhed in Abolish’s stomach as he caved, turning his head to the intoxicated man and enveloping him in a kiss. Pyro’s purring increased in fervor at the contact, his hand reaching from his waist to the black curls of his hair. They cuddled against one another as if they couldn’t get close enough. Pyro pressed his tongue to Abolish’s lips and he opened them further, allowing him. He tasted like alcohol, something Abolish tried his best to ignore; the kiss was bliss that he never wanted to end. Their hand wound through his hair, claws scratching gently into his scalp. Abolish hummed and took the side of Pyro’s face in his hand, holding him closer as he slipped his own tongue into their mouth. He extended his reach as far as it would go before dragging it down the roof of his mouth. Pyro downright moaned at the action, chasing after Abolish’s lips as he pulled away. He moved his hand from Pyro’s cheek to his chest, holding him at bay.

“Pyro.” He whispered, “I— you're drunk. I’m not going to take advantage of you… even if it is just kissing.”

Mumbled sounds of dismay from Pyro as he closed his eyes once more and slumped onto Abolish.

“I know…” he said, his own heart longing for him to abandon a moral or two and kiss them again, “try me again in the morning. Until then...”

Abolish wrapped his arms tightly around Pyro, squeezing him gently. Pyro’s purring returned to its medial, steady rhythm, hugging the other man as he pressed his face into the crook of his neck. Abolish hummed a soft sound of bliss, relaxing completely into Pyro’s embrace.

~~~
Pyro awoke slowly, warm and lovely. His eyes remained closed, their body longing for more rest within the comfortable embrace. As his fogged mind slowly became clearer, he wondered where he was. More importantly, though, who was with him. Their arms were wrapped around someone’s warm figure, who reciprocated the gesture. What happened last night..? He didn’t remember anything past the second drink, and by then he was still alone. Now, he was cuddled up with someone.. they didn’t know who. He could only hope cuddling was all they’d done. Whoever it was, Pyro’s head was buried into their chest and he found himself paying attention to how it rose and fell with each breath; how their heart beat slowly and steadily. It was human, so intently human.
So who was it..? They knew they weren’t in Pyro’s bed, so whoever it was had to have invited them into their home. Did they know what they were inviting in..? Somehow, he thinks they did, at least he wished to believe so; that they let him into their home and arms regardless.
Slowly, his mind worked through the citizens of Oakhurst, trying to figure out who he was currently cuddling with. Of course, there was his first desire and hope; that the person he was with was the one he yearned for so fervently. It wasn’t, obviously… he might've been kind enough to take care of Pyro– to bring him into his home and perhaps even allow him to sleep in his bed, but– to join him under the covers? No, Abolish wouldn't have done such.
They wanted it to be him, though.
God, they wanted it to be him.
However, in its horrid simplicity, it wasn’t– couldn’t’ve been.
So who was it..? They were human, so it wasn’t Scott, Owen, or Shelby. Their chest was flat, so It wasn’t Cleo, Apo, Drift, or Pearl and it double eliminated Shelby. So what else..? The person entangled with him was shorter than Pyro, but that wasn’t too difficult to be. The doc was taller than him, so there was that. Ren as well, and Pearl but they’d already decided it wasn’t her. Sausage was shorter than him, but not by much– the person in their arms had a larger height gap than he and M.
Pyro could settle this– could so easily. All he had to do was open their eyes, look up, and face the music of whoever was embracing them… and yet he didn’t. They told themself they were far too comfortable to move and, while true, it was an excuse. An excuse he told himself because he didn’t want to admit the truth; that if he didn’t see who it was, there was a chance it was Abolish.
Schrödinger’s cat.
So he stayed. He stayed within their warm embrace, listening to their calming heartbeat continue on. They did this, imagining it was him. Imagining that Abolish was the one who’d found him drunk. That Abolish was the one to guide him to his own abode. That Abolish was the one who’d allowed him in his own bed. That Abolish was the one who’d joined him. That Abolish was the one who’d remained there, pressed up against him, entangled beautifully in blissful embrace.
 Something soft and pleasant rumbled through their chest at the thought. A moment later and Pyro realized the feeling within his chest wasn’t just emotion, but some sort of vibration. It was… it was like purring. Days.. was he purring? Could vampires purr? If they could, if they were doing so… it was awesome. The feeling filled his chest completely and carried out through limbs residually, joy and warmth spreading through each wave of vibration.
There was another sound that filled the air not long after; a soft, pleasant, huff from the person. They breathed in particularly deep, their heartbeat speeding up ever so slightly as they began to wake. They shifted, simply readjusting and stretching waking muscles. They hummed softly, a hand rubbing over his back gently. Pyro sighed blissfully, pressing closer to Abolish the person.
“Good morning~” they whispered, pressing a soft kiss to his head.
His voice… his beautiful, perfectly toned voice…
Abolish.
Pyro’s breath hitched, an unbeating heart skipping at the sound. Their eyes blinked open, seeking confirmation for what his ears had already told him. White fabric was all he saw to begin with— Abolish’s dress shirt. He glanced downwards— Abolish’s black slacks.
They shifted, looking up toward the face of the man he embaced… the man who’d kissed him.
Lips curved beautifully in a soft smile as he brown eyes, warmer than a hearth, gazed kindly upon them. Black curls framed his pale face, though nowhere as neat as it usually was. Glimmers of red and silver from the crosses in his ears.
It was him. It was all wonderfully, beautifully him.
“Abolish..?”
They spoke quietly, as if the word would make him dissipate like a mirage; he only smiled
“Pyro.” he replied.
Abolish.”
“I take it you don’t remember last night.”
A soft shake of his head and Abolish gave a soft smile in response.
“Not surprised.” He said, “you were so incredibly drunk. Just be glad vampires can't get hangovers, Pyro.”
He did know; he knew he was a vampire and they were in his arms regardless. Pyro’s heart swelled at the thought.
“I can’t remember anything past the second drink—“
“Well, you had about five of ‘em.”
“I had what?”
He laughed lightly, nodding.
“You were… out of it when I found you, to say the least.”
Pyro searched his eyes, urging him to continue.
“I found you at the tavern,” he started, “you were alone, and quite chatty to be honest. I told you I’d get you home safe, which you did not like. So I brought you here; got you to the bed before you passed out.”
“So… how… how did we end up like this?”
“You didn’t let me leave,” He said simply, “pulled me into bed with you.”
Pyro flushed, “You— you don’t mean…”
“Oh no, not like that. I mean you got on your knees when we got here, but no.”
“I what?”
“I didn’t let you, don’t worry.”
“But I really—?”
A nod.
“Oh God.”
They buried their face into Abolish’s chest, trying desperately to hide his embarrassment. He knew he was an affectionate drunk but really? On their knees for him so quickly? Abolish laughed lightly, his hand still massaging along their spine.
“Well, I had nowhere else to go, so I joined you. Should’ve known you wanted to cuddle; you kept calling me warm. You had your head at my neck before I knew it and to be honest I thought you were going to bite me. You didn’t though— you started to kiss me.”
His blush deepened within seconds.
“Went all along my neck to my jaw before… well…” Abolish paused, “I feel bad about this if I’m being completely truthful… but I kissed you. I apologize for it… I kissed you while you were drunk, and not just a peck either I—“
“You kissed me?”
“—I did.”
“Not the other way around..”
“We sort of kissed each other… but after all your teasing I— I initiated it, yes.”
“So you wanted to kiss me?”
“I did. I do.”
He… he still does? Abolish— wanted to kiss him— Pyro? Why..?
Did it really matter why? Abolish wanted to kiss him, and God, they weren’t going to push away that opportunity. Pyro looked up, removing his head from Abolish’s shirt.
“Remind me, then…?”
Abolish’s eyes lit up, shifting to allow Pyro to move up closer to his face. With a soft hum, he pressed his lips to theirs, melting into the kiss as he had the night before. It wasn’t alcohol Abolish was met with, but the taste of Pyro; so innately Pyro. They pressed impossibly closer to Abolish, in their mind, kissing him for the first time. It was incredible. Pyro had, admittedly, never kissed anyone before. Hell, he’d never even cuddled anyone. So to experience both with someone he truly cared about was a gift sent from heaven above. A moment later Abolish broke away, speaking softly against his lips.
“You know, if you want this to be accurate to last night, around now is when you put your tongue in my mouth.”
He gave no other explanation, pressing back onto Pyro before he had a chance to react. His eyes remained wide for a second longer before closing once more. He obeyed Abolish’s words, slipping their tongue into him as he kissed with an open mouth. Pyro hoped he was doing well; he had no idea how French kisses were supposed to be done, so he just lapped into the other’s mouth, tracing lines into his flesh. From the soft hums of pleasure in Abolish’s throat, Pyro took it that he was at least better than a drunken version of himself. The two entwined further together even still, legs tangling like vines. Abolish reciprocated the actions as he had last time, licking into Pyro’s mouth and dragging back against the roof; again pulling away after. They only wished he’d done more.
“And that was that.” He muttered, pressing one last soft kiss to their lips.
Pyro purred steadily, slumping into Abolish’s arms.
“And you apologized for a kiss like that?” He mumbled, nuzzling into his form, “mmm.. I should get on my knees for you; you deserve it.”
“Pyro!” He cried with a barking laugh, “you can’t just say that!”
“Sure I can.”
Abolish laughed once more, winding a hand through his hair. He breathed deeply, taking in enough air to fill his lungs and then some, before releasing it into a pleasant sigh.
“I like you, Pyro.” He admitted, “I like you a lot.”
“And I, you, Abolish.”
