Work Text:
Saki sat in her room, trying to finish her homework.
But it was so frustrating, and she really didn’t want to do it. Maybe she’d pop into Sekai for a bit, and chat with the Virtual Singers…
She picked up her phone, surprised to see the music app open immediately. Had she really used it so recently?
Whatever, it didn’t matter.
She searched for needLe in her playlist, but it wasn’t there.
The hell?
She typed it into the search bar. No result.
She tried again, this time typing in “untitled.”
That had been the old name of the song, and the artist was still listed as that on the app.
This time, a song did come up, but it wasn’t needLe.
“The World Hasn’t Even Started Yet”
With a gasp, Saki finally realized this was not her phone.
It was Tsukasa’s. She must have accidentally picked it up earlier. Her and her brother’s phones do look quite similar, after all.
Which raised the question: Why did Tsukasa have an Untitled?
Did he have a Sekai too?
Saki hesitated, but then decided to press play.
Familiar light covered her eyes, and when it cleared, she was definitely not in her room anymore.
But it wasn’t the calming, sunset school sekai she knew.
This sekai was filled with color and craziness.
It looked like a theme park, circus, and weird, fantasy, rainbow kingdom, all combined.
It definitely made sense for Tsukasa.
Saki could faintly make out noise from inside a huge circus tent. Maybe that was where the virtual singers of this sekai were?
She walked over and quietly entered the tent.
It was a huge theater, with a large stage in the middle. Also very fitting for her brother.
On the stage, was who Saki assumed to be Miku and Kaito. Kaito didn’t look all that different. He wore a fancy show costume suit, but his hair was exactly the same.
The Miku however, was quite a bit different. She wore a bright pink, fluffy dress, and her pigtails were a lot longer and straighter than her Miku’s, but most importantly, this Miku was a cat. She had white ears at the top of her head, and a white tail coming from the back of her dress.
And it was definitely real, from how the tail moved.
And she definitely acted differently from Saki’s Miku. She was rambling to Kaito, with energy that honestly rivaled Emu.
“And then the princess swoops in all fwooooosh, and she ends up having to save the knight from the big scary monster!!! And she uses magic and it goes all kira kira and BAM! The monster turns into one of the plushies!!!!” Miku said, excitedly.
“That’s certainly an idea,” Kaito laughed, “Sure, why not. We can work on the script tomorrow.”
“Awwwww, but Miku wants to work on it no-”
Suddenly, Miku noticed Saki, who was still standing by the entrance.
Miku leaped off the stage and bounded over to her.
“Hi there! Miku hasn’t seen you before! How did you get here? You look kinda like Tsukasa-kun,” She said rapidly, then gasped, “Wait, are you his sister? Are you Saki-chan??!?!”
Saki blinked at her energy.
“Um, yeah, I am. Is this his Sekai?”
Kaito walked over to join them.
“Yes, it is. How exactly did you end up here?” He asked.
“Miku is really excited to meet you!!!!” Miku interrupted, “Tsukasa-kun talks about you sososososo much!!!! He says you have a band, that's so cool! Actually, this Sekai exists because of you!!! Tsukasa wants you to smile all waku waku!!!!!!!”
“Really?” she asked. It… made sense for Tsukasa. He was always doing everything for her.
Miku nodded energetically.
“A-anyway,” Saki said, turning to Kaito, “I accidentally took Tsukasa’s phone off the counter instead of my own earlier, and then I was trying to look for my sekai, but I found his, and I was curious, so…”
“You have a Sekai too? What’s it like? What is Miku like?!” The cat-girl questioned.
Saki giggled, “A lot different. My sekai–with my bandmates–is a school of sorts. It’s always really pretty, at sunset, but if you go on the roof there's always an amazing night sky. And you’re… a lot less energetic, more like… a wise senpai.”
“Woahhh, so cool!” Miku puffed out her cheeks, “Miku can totally be wise too!”
Kaito laughed again at that.
Suddenly, an extremely loud, familiar yell comes from outside the tent.
“GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH”
“Oh dear,” Saki laughed, “Did he see a bug?”
“There's bugs in Sekai?!?!?!?!” Miku shrieked.
Kaito frowned, “How did he even get here if you have his phone?”
“He’s probably with someone else!” Miku exclaimed, “Let's go see!!!!” She started moving toward the door, then froze.
“Wait! The bugs!!!! Miku hates bugs!!!! They’re so… Eep!!!”
“I was just joking, Miku-chan,” Saki assured her, “I doubt there's any bugs.”
The three of them exited the tent, to see Rui and Tsukasa a ways off.
It looked like Tsukasa was running away from something.
Could there… actually be a bug, or something?
“GO AWAY GO AWAY GO AWAYYYYYYYY!!!!!” Tsukasa shouted.
Rui stood off to the side, laughing.
“TSUKASA-KUUUUN!!!!!” Miku shouted, running over to him, “IS EVERYTHING OKA–EEP!!!!!! BUGS!!!!!”
Next to her, Kaito sighed, “really?”
“KAITO-NIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!” Rin yelled, running over from behind Rui.
“HELP U-” Rin cut herself off, looking at Saki.
“Hi! I’m Saki!” She said, holding her hand out to Rin.
Rin smiled at her, and shook her hand enthusiastically.
“Wonderhoy!!!! Hello, Saki-chan!!!!!!!!”
This Rin honestly didn’t seem all that different from her Rin, she thought.
“Anyway! You guys gotta help!,” She pointed behind her, where Miku and Tsukasa were still running and screaming.
“There's a bunch of butterflies!!!!! I think they’re really pretty but they’re still bugs and they’re making Tsukasa-kun scared which is bad!!!!!”
Saki and Kaito walked closer.
The butterflies were really pretty. They were purple and blue, with hints of golden along the wings. They seemed to only be swarming Tsukasa and Rui. They weren’t actively flying towards Miku, but she was near Tsukasa, so they were near her too.
Rui didn’t seem to mind the ones around him. He let them flit around him, even land on him, as he watched Tsukasa with an amused and fond expression.
Suddenly, Saki had an idea of what feelings could have caused this.
She couldn’t help but start laughing.
That finally alerted Tsukasa and Rui to their presence.
“Ah, hello Saki-san,” Rui waved.
Tsukasa stopped running for a moment, and turned to her, “S-Saki?! How are you here?!?!?!?”
Saki, through her laughter, pulled out Tsukasa’s phone.
“I accidentally took your phone earlier. Sorry. Anyway, this place is so cool!!!!! Maybe not as cool as my sekai, but still pretty cool.”
“You have a SEKAI?!?!?!” Tsukasa shouted.
She nodded, “Yup! I gotta show you sometime!”
A butterfly landed on Tsukasa’s shoulder, making him jump, “GAH! SAKI, HELP ME!!!! I DON’T KNOW WHY THESE THINGS APPEARED IN MY SEKAI!!!!!! AHHHHHH”
“It is quite fascinating…” Rui murmured.
“I might have an idea,” Saki laughed.
“Tell me!!!!” Tsukasa pleaded.
She giggled and walked over to him, and whispered, “Onii-chan, I think you’re in love with Rui-san”
“WHAT?!?!?!” Tsukasa shrieked, “NO! THAT ISN’T THE REASON!!!!”
He shook his head violently, “That can’t be it. I’d know it if that were the case!”
Saki gave him a look, “You absolutely would not. Your level of denial and obliviousness is actually unmatched.”
Rui let out a short laugh at that.
Tsukasa blinked for a moment, then shook his head, “I… I’m gonna go home. T-the bugs…” he stuttered, going to pull out his phone, to realize Saki still had it.
Miku frowned at his sudden mood change, but still shouted, “I got you Tsukasa-kun!” She reached out and tapped him on the shoulder, and he disappeared in a flash of light.
The butterflies where he was, and the ones around Rui, flew away the second he was gone.
“What did you think the butterflies were from?” Rui asked, “I came up with several ideas, but none seemed particularly good.”
“Onii-chan is in love with you but hugely in denial about it,” Saki stated simply.
Rui blinked, “O-oh. Are… Are you sure?”
Saki nodded, “Yeah. I mean, the butterflies were all you-colored, and they were only around you two. Probably a reference to, like, “butterflies in the stomach’ or whatever. Besides that, Onii-chan’s literally told me how he feels differently with you than his other friends, but he doesn’t know why. And he wouldn’t listen to me when I tried to tell him,” She sighed, “It’s really obvious.”
Kaito chuckled at that, and Rin nodded.
“Yeah!” Miku interjected, “When Tsukasa-kun sees you his heart goes all doki doki! And his eyes are all kira kira because he loves you a lot!!!! Miku knows it!”
“...Huh,” Rui said, incredulously, before pulling out his phone and disappearing.
Saki sighed, “Hopefully that’ll give those two a little push together… I should probably go. It was nice to meet you three!”
“Aw, bye bye!!!” Miku said, hugging her.
“Come back soon!!!!” Rin exclaimed.
Kaito just waved.
Saki pulled out Tsukasa’s phone, and pressed pause, letting the light cover her vision.
