Work Text:

Spite was almost ridiculously excited to show his Pretty Bird what he had found. An ancient elvhen village. A ghost town in the Fade.

---

Mara woke up in the realm of dreams, Spite was with her which was a regular occurrence in the Fade. Unusually though she was not naked, his usual preference for when he visited her dreams.

Instead she wore a long dress of pale blue. Silvery threads shimmered like the branches of a tree embroidered on the fine fabric. The threads caught the light whenever she moved and echoed the branches of her vallaslin. The sleeves were like gossamer.

Her Demon even did her hair. A half updo, a braid pinned in place with small silverite leaves. The rest of her hair fell in loose waves down to the small of her back.

Spite spun her around in his arms and pressed kisses to her cheeks and Mara laughed in delight. His form was halfway between the massive hulking form he favoured in the Fade and the purple tinged mirror image of Lucanis. The thought of him summoned a shimmering window to his dreams. A glimpse of Luca in his casual clothes with two tiny wisps playfully darting around him.

Something in her core knew those wisps...she took a step towards them, her hand extended only for Spite to take it. His claws gentle as he turned Mara to face him.

"Trust. Me?" Spite asked, his voice deliberately soft. "Have a surprise. Found. For you."

The window to Lucanis faded away and it was just them once more.

---

Mara stood before him with Spite's wings extended around her. The wings embraced her closely and she stood on tiptoes to kiss him.

"I always trust you sweetie."

The Demons eyes fluttered closed as he savoured the feeling of Mara's soft lips on his. He ended up lifting her off of the ground to deepen the kiss, his forked tongue slid into her mouth. He had her dress halfway off before he remembered what he was supposed to be doing.

Gently he placed her back on the ground and adjusted her dress. He looked almost accusatorily down at her.

"You are. Distracting."

The dimple that Lucanis adored appeared as she laughed. "I didn't even do anything!"

"Don't have to. Just be. You."

"Ir abelas. Forgive me?"

"Always."

---

Spite led her by the hand through the Fade. Tall dreamlike trees in shades of soft pink butter yellow gave way to marble columns with ivory vines made to look like ivy climbing them. The soft mulch of the forest floor had a smooth brick embedded. Cool under her foot. A few steps later there were three or four bricks. Further along were a dozen. Eventually mulch turned to stone proper and led to a small town, unlike anything Mara had seen before in the waking world or her dreams.

The buildings were delicate, marble and crystal. Most were only a couple of storeys tall but there was one tall spiralling tower, vaguely reminiscent of halla horn.

In the centre of the square was a fountain with sparkling water and dawn lotus floating on the surface. The streets were lined with crystal grace and small fennec foxes peeked out inquisitively from the shadows before darting past so close that they brushed against her ankles.

"There were NUGS but asked them to leave." Spite spoke softly as Mara turned around in awed wonder. "The tower is library. ALL your favourite books."

---

Mara tilted her head back and looked up to an araval with its blood red sails unfurled and floated in the sky. Down a small pathway led to clear blue water, smooth and placid as glass. A gentle breeze carried the scent of freshly baked bread from what looked like an old bakery.

The whole place was beautiful, like nothing and nowhere she had ever seen before. At the same time though it felt painfully familiar like how she thought it might feel if she ever saw her father.

"Come. SEE." Spite said as he took her by the hand once more and with a thought they were outside of a house half cottage, half manor.

A rainbow of flowers, some actually moved like butterflies, trembling as though they were about to fly off. Others tinkled lightly, a song carried on the wind.

"Some  GLOW too. See?"

She was twirled around and when she was set down the sun had set and thousands of stars sparkled above her. The moon looked almost close enough to touch. Sure enough some of the flowers glowed softly.

"Spite...Spite this is wonderful! Is it real? I mean, I know this is the Fade but-did this place exist in the physical realm?"

"Yes. But ALSO no. Was small town. EMPIRE. Elves." He started to nibble the point of her ear. "Got LOST. Like ME. But I find and make better. For YOU. Favourite books. Sewing. Art...BED."

Another flash of shimmering magic and the Demon floated her down onto a massive bed. Her dress gone and his tail wrapped around her thigh, the tip gently pressed against her cunt.

---

Spite craved his Pretty Bird. He often enjoyed her in the waking world, invisible but attentive. Or sharing in the senses of Lucanis when he was with her. This was his favourite though. Mara in the Fade where he could talk to her and taste her himself.

Her legs widened and he could smell the lust of her. He pressed his forehead to hers. The thick length of him pressed against her.

"Mine." He said.

"Yours." Mara agreed.

And there in an ancient elvhen ghost town, the Demon claimed his prize.
