golden chalk

Summary:

Falling into the moon's reflection.

Long before the island in the sky set the earth to burn, the Eclipse Dynasty, the Crimson Moon Dynasty, and the Aubrora Dynasty wrote their past and present together, sharing the same lands.
Beneath the gold and silver domes of Khaenri'ah, four souls would see the cycle of the world change before their eyes.
Dainsleif, Twilight Sword, would discover at his own expense the schemes that stain corrupt hearts.

Chapter 1: prologue: the sea

Chapter Text

Hleobranto Innamorato.

"Oh high lord of the nobles, a child once told me a tale of another world: Once upon a time, there were sea people who believed that the gods came from the sea. Each time they discovered a shipwrecked person, they would treat them with the utmost honor, for they believed that the gods would take the form of the shipwrecked to investigate the mortal realm."

A crimson moon set and a dark sun descended into a yet darker dusk. From this Moon, her descendants could manipulate a bloodthirsty fire drawn from abyssal energy, slowly consuming their souls. Red Xs crossed out their innocent pupils.

On the other side of the Moon, the descendants of the Aubrora Dynasty were blessed with long, slightly pointed ears, a unique spiritual power, and eyes with pupils resembling detached, round four-pointed stars.

As Rerir fell in love with Tholindis, Dainsleif was uncertain of his feelings for his dear friend: Elaria. The first time he saw her, all He could remember was a very long pale hair whose colored by the sunlight in delicates tons of light blue, light gold, and like pink; a wonderful maze of color as if it were a diamond exposed to the sun's rays. As she heard his steps, she turned around on the branch on which she used to sit during the day until the sky will fade in darker tons. The long dress exposed part of her shoulders and back, contrasting with her brown skin and golden brown eyes, and Dainsleif's eyes could see a golden snake-shaped accessory adorned her left leg. She was barefoot because she left her ankle boots at the bottom of the tree.

She did smile at him. Something very soft and innocent. Even Dainsleif's usually silent heart ended up beating faster, almost loudly in his ears as he buried that feeling in a dusty corner of his mind.
