A hunter never stops hunting

Summary:

One after another, the hunters failed in their duty. The night's hunt came to an end when no one else could control it.

After the catastrophe, Yharnam, now buried, was found.

Only a few years passed before the great calamity of the witch of envy and the city of miraculous blood was buried underground.

Only one big one stayed awake, waiting for a hunter capable of finishing off the other big ones.

A little hunter just arrived, lost in the streets of Lugunica.

Now you must learn to hunt and prevent the creatures buried in Yharnam from emerging in Lugunica.

Chapter Text

I swear I will save you

Satella!

oh, it had been centuries since I had found someone capable of entering the dream.

I, Flora, bless you.

Hunter

By the time Subaru opened his eyes again, he was no longer in the capital or the loot house.

In front of him was a small, closed cabin, surrounded by tombstones and white flowers. Next to some stairs was a creepy human doll.

"An isekai within an isekai?! What luck, or did the goddess of this world summon me and revive everyone? Was that earlier a test to see if I was worthy of being a hero?" Subaru murmured as he saw a creature at the base of the stairs. "wow, you're ugly."

The creatures showed no reaction, one approached him with a paper with perfect Japanese.

"In the hands of the messengers you will find your weapons, choose one. Above you will find firearms, choose one." Subaru finished reading to look at the pale creature. "You are the messengers, aren't you?" The pale creature nodded and behind him came three more, each carrying a weapon.

The weapons were a stick, an axe and a kind of saw blade.

"Can I try them?" When the messenger nodded, Subaru ran towards the weapons."So this will be my OP isekai weapon? I'll try the axe and see how it goes."

Subaru began to swing the axe, his movements slow and clumsy as he made chopping noises. What bothered him about the weapon was the handle.

And when you move it, it makes a small noise, almost as if there was something inside.

While evaluating the handle I noticed a small button at the base of the weapon, when touched

*Clink*

"Oh fuck yeah." Subaru looked surprised as the axe's handle had increased in length. He had now gone from being able to wield it with one hand to barely being able to lift it with two hands.  "Wait, if the axe can transform, could the others too?"

He quickly ran to the saw blade and removed what appeared to be a safety catch.

Only for it to unfold and increase the length of the blade "To be honest, even if it doesn't have a mechanism like a chainsaw, it still looks badass." When his gaze shifted to the cane he couldn't help but squeal in excitement. "Will be the cane with a sword inside? Or will there be some kind of trigger for a gun at the base?" Excited, he found the mechanism in the grip of the cane and a second later

*ching*

The cane was now a damn whip with blades

"Oh my god, now he's going to be one of those ultra-cool gentlemen." When the cane returned to its original form, he began to walk with it, posing "Manners make the man, gentlemen, and since you are not worthy of being called men, I find myself in the position of eliminating you." Subaru released the whip again as he tried to spin it.

If for Subaru the axe was already Badass, the staff was the supreme Badass, he quickly left the other weapons next to the messengers and went up the stairs, meeting the messengers this time

Any man would have chosen the big gun, but for Subaru the outfit didn't complement his weapons, so he chose the pistol.

It definitely wasn't because he found the blunderbuss heavy.

After choosing his gun, Subaru tried to open the door in front of him, after not being able to move the door he dedicated himself to wandering through the hunter's dream

Until a tombstone with Japanese inscriptions was found

"Capital of Lugunia - alley"

When he touched it, the name began to shine and the messengers came out from under the earth, stretching out their hands.

Subaru gulped and let himself be led by the hands.

And a few seconds later he found himself in the same alley where Satella had saved him.

"Could it be some kind of TP?" He thought, looking at the lamp that wasn't there before, "Given the lamps and the fact that it's daytime, I'd say so." He reflected, a few seconds later understanding came to him "The house of loot, Satella, I have to go see what happened."

"Hey, wait for me, buddy. Where are you going? If you want to go through a toll, you have to pay." The same thieves who had assaulted him before were in front of him.

"You guys again? Now you waited for Satella to leave me alone, didn't you?" The thieves looked at each other in confusion at the witch's name."Well guess what, now I'm not so weak anymore, I have cool weapons."

With a snap the whip was released and now Subaru was swinging it all over the alley.

The attackers retreated before the whip of blades.

Until it caught on Subaru's arm, bleeding non-stop.

For Subaru it was an agonizing pain, each blade digging into his skin and burning in unthinkable ways. The thieves approached his dying body, unable to remove them from his skin, the bandits took advantage to steal his things and kick him. Funny, one of them decided to take the whip handle from Subaru.

"Where's your old courage, huh bitch?" The one in the middle sneered, "Let's see how cool you are now, you spoiled brat." With a single pull, the whip brought Subaru's arm up to his shoulder. He began to scream in pain while the attackers stared at him, terrified. "Shit! I didn't think he was going to rip his arm off, run!" They left the alley, leaving Subaru to his fate.

"Late again, at least let me end your suffering, what a sorry excuse for a saint I am." A second later Subaru stopped feeling pain, a beautiful calm settled in his head.

And now he was back in the hunter's dream.

Still confused, Subaru began to tremble in pain and scream loudly, tears streaming down his face as he grabbed his arm, still feeling phantom pain.

And then his head was placed on an uncomfortable, but relaxing, lap. Little by little, as he felt his head being stroked, Subaru calmed down.

"It's over, good hunter, rest and regain your strength." Little by little the voice became weaker as darkness invaded Subaru's vision."Oh good hunter, rest"

Waking up for the third time in the hunter's dream, now without any pain, Subaru noticed that he was resting on a girl's lap, a very uncomfortable one indeed.

Looking up he was greeted by a beautiful face, almost carved from marble.

"Good hunter, you have awakened from your slumber. I hope you were able to rest."

"Eh, hello?" Subaru looked uncomfortably at the expressionless woman and quickly stood up, when he was standing he assessed the woman he had been resting on."I hadn't seen you before"

"My name is the doll, my duty here is to help hunters like you channel their strength." The woman said, when she mentioned her name Subaru noticed the woman's strange fingers surprised "As for why your gaze didn't catch my eye, it was due to your lack of insight, something normal in those who know nothing about the dream or the world itself.

"And what happened to me? I remember my arm had been ripped off." Subaru touched his missing arm, "Or is it that if I return to reality, will I lose it again?"

"Calm your worries, good hunter, for I have been entrusted with the duty of telling you about your skill." The words came out of the doll elegantly "As a hunter, your duty is to hunt beasts or other creatures infected with blood. You must face countless trials in order to finally end the hunt."

"And how do I get stronger? You said you'd be key to that, didn't you?"

"Don't get too far ahead of yourself, boy, let her put you in context first *cough* *cough*" When Subaru turned around he found an old man on a wheelchair.

"Oh Gehrman,  We are sorry to have interrupted your rest" The doll answered in a polite tone.

"Will you be my teacher? Aren't you too old? Or are you the god who will give me the OP ability?" Subaru pounced on the old man with questions, waiting to be answered. But then when he had barely taken a few steps he felt the cold of a Scythe on his neck.

"Hohoho, sorry kid, you moved too fast and I acted on instinct. Doll, let me give the boy his homework. Flora wants us to put him into action as soon as possible." Gehrman said

"Flora? Could it be she who brought me and blessed me?" Subaru muttered, watching the first hunter closely. "And why does this goddess want me in action?"

Gehrman trembled, few who knew what THAT THING was would tell him that it was a goddess, even so he had to fulfill his duty"Flora is the one who cares for, guides, and strengthens hunters like you and me. Now sit down and we'll begin the basic lessons."

Subaru quickly closed his mouth and sat down where the doll had been, next to the stairs.

"Good, that's how I like it. Now, your powers as a hunter"

Note: Anyone who has played at least until defeating their first Boss can skip the following text. Now if you are unfamiliar with the Bloodborne universe, the text will help you understand this work.

"As a hunter your duty is to kill the beasts, you get no rewards beyond the safety of your people, instead Flora will give you blood echoes for whatever you kill, ally or enemy. She gave the doll the power to channel them and increase your attributes, so don't even think about doing anything bad to the doll."  You wouldn't be the first to think of it and delete it before he even try.

"Miracle blood is what turns people into beasts, but Flora protects your body from being consumed by the beast, so you can inject it into your leg and in a matter of seconds you can Regenerate wounds, manage them well or suffer the consequences," Gehrman seemed about to continue but after thinking about it he decided to give him some advice. "Oh right, if you meet a beast its blood will also serve to heal you, that's all you need to know about blood"

"Your weapons and some you may find during your hunt will be useful for damaging the hide of beasts due to their materials, so do not try to use a normal sword against an infected."

"Your pistol or whatever gun you have will use silver bullets, they can find them in Yharnam or with this" Gehrman threw a needle to Subaru "It's a blood extraction needle. When you draw blood, it will compact it into bullets."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Normally I would tell you to use the rune workshop but old hunters left a mess and took a lot of things." After that Gehrman's expression was extremely serious.
"Now then, your [skill] is Flora's Blessing." Flora had told him not to say anything about the witch of envy or the miasma. "When you're alive, you randomly set a checkpoint. When you die, you'll return to that checkpoint—a time travel experience, so to speak." Just thinking about a hunter who had the power of this child made him tremble, although deep down he felt relief. (Laurence, Micolash, Maria, a hunter like that would have been good for us, not someone like me, sorry it took so long to find him) "Don't think you can live your life quietly, brat. The condition of this skill is that you go down the Lugunica Catacombs to Yharnam and start eliminating beasts." There was no need to mention the chaos that would be generated if those things came out in Lugunica, Gehrman remembered some that would bring many problems to the world.
"In case you try to avoid your duties as a hunter, Flora will not be afraid to take away your granted strength and your powers." That was true, Flora towered over the witch of envy, even if it hurt Gehrman.
"So I'm something like a superhuman?" Subaru asked excitedly.
"Technically speaking, you're a slightly superior human. You need to acquire Blood Echoes, and once the doll channels them, you'll slowly begin to feel its strength." Gehrman explained "Now, I have been entrusted to send you on your first duty as a hunter."
"Oh my first task entrusted to me by a God! How exciting, it's the beginning of my hero's journey!" Subaru exclaimed happily.
"Hoho, the bigger his ego, the sooner he falls. Those who think like him are the first to surrender to the cleric beast." Gehrman whispered, inaudible to Subaru "Well, your first duty will be to go down to Yharnam and advance as far as you can, then we can evaluate your performance and what needs to be improved."
"Wait, what about Satella and the loot hunt?" I ask worriedly, if he went on his hero's path then he wouldn't be able to save her.
"Relax, it won't take long, maybe you'll be done by sunset." Although you must first survive until that moment, few succeed. "Good, now go back through the tombstone to the alley, there the messengers will tell you where you have to go"
"Understood," he said excitedly, running to the tombstone and returning to Lugunica.
"Oh Flora, take care of our good hunter and guide him safely to his destination." The doll prayed for Subaru
"Ha, I bet since everyone got killed by Iosefka's wolf, that beast remains undefeated in hunters killed for the first time." Gehrman laughed at the boy's fate. "Ah, welcome to the hunting night, Natsuki Subaru."
When Subaru opened his eyes again he was in the same alley as before, With a messenger at his feet, he began to move along the ground as if floating.
Subaru decided to follow him before he was attacked again.
For a few minutes Subaru was lost among the alleys of the royal capital until it reached a dead end somewhere between the slums and the middle zone.
And then the messenger hit a slab on the ground and it began to shake. Subaru was ready to jump but the ground had already broken
*Clank*
"Oh god my back!" He exclaimed in pain, as the table he had fallen on broke and fell again, this time a few inches."Why couldn't he come with a feather-fall ability or an exaggeratedly long ladder?"
After getting up and still in pain, Subaru checked the room he was in, there was no one else and the place seemed abandoned.
After the inspection he found a staircase, with slow steps under the steps to a small room with a lamp just like the one in the alley."Oh, it's the same, will they have any effect?" When his hand touched the lamp it turned on in a blue tone and nothing else happened."Tch, how disappointing"
Feeling recovered, Subaru advanced to the next room, where he was stopped by a noise.
*Crunch* *Slash* *crunch*
Fearfully, Subaru moved forward slowly until, peeking out from behind a shelf, he saw a kind of wolf devouring a corpse.
Quickly and horrified, Subaru left the scene, but he couldn't help but kick some glass jars and break another one.
The beast was alerted by the sound and within seconds it was already attacking Subaru.
He responded quickly, transforming his heartbeat and launching it at the creature, the metal blades catching on the creature's hairs and making it retreat.
"Ha, you're not that brave anymore, are you?" said Subaru, still with his whip released. "Now give me my blood echoes and become EXP!" Without thinking twice, Subaru launched himself at the monster, but it also launched itself at him.
With his first lash he managed to prevent the wolf from biting him, but when he was about to give the second, his stomach was ripped open by the creature and a second later the wolf devoured his head.
Natsuki Subaru died
When he woke up again from the dream he was completely traumatized, gently touching his stomach and gently feeling his head.
"*Cought*  I gotta say it kid, for your first time in Yharnam, you're the first to land two hits on the wolf, most people are surprised when it doesn't die with the first one and that's it." Gehrman praises Subaru "But don't let it go to your head, go back, kill the wolf and then your 'mission' will begin."
Subaru stared wide-eyed at Gehrman, before he felt the doll's hands caressing and calming him again.
"Oh good hunted, I wish you luck in your adversities, I hope you can overcome them."
"Oh yes, a lovely lady has motivated me to keep going, unlike the bitter Gehrman." Subaru quickly got back up, still feeling phantom pains from his previous lap."I wish I could give you my heart, oh doll" He said with theatricality
"Hmm, it's been years since the last student disrespected me." Gehrman said
"Oh good hunter, may your heart be comforted by his choices, please remember that I love you." Subaru turned his back to the doll and looked at the tombstone. "I hope you have a good hunt."
When Subaru checked Lugunica's tombstone, this time he noticed that another name had appeared.
[First floor of Iosefka Clinic]
When he touched the new name, this time he was taken by the messengers to the previous lamp in the clinic
"Wow, so these are like checkpoints? Great! Plus now I know I'm in something called Iosefka's clinic." With a decisive movement, Subaru transformed his staff and returned to where the wolf was. "A hunter must hunt, baby"
Even through the pain, a new hunter had joined the hunt.
