Chapter Text
•3rd person•
It's 9 a.m. everyone is just waking up from a long day. School and most people's jobs are canceled due to the 'earthquake', so all the Wheelers, Byers, and Hoppers are home. Karen is cooking breakfast and Holly is drawing at the table, almost everyone in the Wheeler house are getting ready for the day. Will, who had gotten up a bit earlier than everyone else, is already walking down the stairs.
"Morning Mrs. Wheeler!" Will says, alerting Karen and Holly of his presence.
"Will, dear, I've know you since before you could spell. How many times do I have to tell you to call me Karen?" She says with a soft smile.
"Sorry," Will chuckles, "I've just always thought it was impolite to call one of my friends parents by there first name."
"Whatever you say, honey"
Will walks to the table to see the small blond girl with a crayon on hand.
"Hey Hol" he say with a smile.
"Hi Will!! You wanna draw with me? I'm making a mushroom house!"
Before Will can reply, Karen steps in, "honey, don't bother Will. He probably wants to relax this early in the morning!"
"Oh it's fine!" He says genuinely before directing his attention back to the little girl, "I'd love to draw with you Holly!"
"Yay!" She exclaims, earning a 'shush' from her mom and a chuckle from Will as he sits down.
"So, you said you were drawing a mushroom house, right?" The brown haired boy asks.
"Mhm!"
"Does anyone live there?"
Holly pauses for a moment before looking away, slightly flushed. "Well, I was thinking there would be fairies... but I'm not so good at drawing people..."
"Well then, how about we divide and conquer! You draw the house and I’ll draw the fairies!"
Holly's eyes light up and Karen smiles from where she's cooking. Nancy and Mike never really play with Holly, but somehow, whenever Will was in the house, he made time to hang out with Holly. It always made Karen's heart melt. She always had a soft spot for Will, he was her son's best friend, but that spot grew whenever he played with Holly.
Will is really like another son to Karen. He also holds a kind of sibling like relationship with Nancy. Will seems to think of Holly as a little sister too. His relationship with Mike isn't really like siblings, but they're obviously close, even if there have been rough patches. Nobody is really close to Ted, but Will is the only one of Mike's friends he finds bearable. It's easy to say that Will has and always will have a place in the Wheeler house.
As they were coloring Karen finished breakfast and called everyone down. Will promised Holly he would finish coloring with her sometime after eating.
•Mike's POV•
Mike woke up to his mom yelling something about breakfast being ready. Most of the house was probably already up and ready for the day. He didn't feel the need to get changed yet, it's not like anyone in the house hasn't seen him in pajamas before, except maybe Hop. So he just got up, making sure there wasn't a brown haired boy in the way of his foot, and went down stairs.
Speaking of the brown haired boy, the first thing Mike sees after walking down the stairs is Will helping his little sister put all her art supplies away.
"I hope you're not making Will clean up after you?" Usually that would be said in a more sarcastic way, but Mike knows if someone asked Will to clean up for them he probably would without complaint.
"I'm not!" Holly said, as if she was offended he even asked. Mike looks over at Will, cocking his eyebrow in an accusatory way.
"She really isn't,we were just coloring" Will says as he smiles, lifting up the unfinished fairy.
Mike looks at the drawing and can't help but smile, Will's great at literally any form of art. Not to mention how great he is with kids, Mike really can't handle kids, but all kids, including Holly, have always been drawn to Will.
As more people come down, Will offers to set the table for everyone. Apparently wanting to be helpful, as if keeping Holly occupied for more than an hour isn't insanely helpful. Mike would feel bad if Will did it alone, he wouldn't care if it was anyone else, but he can't have Will overworking himself. Oddly enough Holly offers to help too, standing suspiciously close to Will. She also would glare at Mike when her touch Will or handed him something…
