SELECTED PROMPT : LOUDLY IN LOVE

#KATEANTHONYWEEK

Aubrey Hall, Imogen's Bedroom, 1814

"Kate, we know that... this is hard for you and for him. Especially for you. And what he did last night... wasn't right either." 

Benedict closed the 10 years old Imogen's ears. She didn't need to know what Anthony was doing to Kate because she's still way too underage. No need for details. Imogen just simply looked to Kate's eyes. "But, we know that both of them love each other, brother." Imogen said. That made Benedict scoffed. "Tch- if you know what he did to Kate, sister. But, you don't need to. Inappropriate for you." As they talk, in the hallway, they could hear footsteps. It's clear that it came from Anthony's boots. Kate chimed in.

"I will open the door. You guys don't need to worry."

Then, as Kate opened the door, she could see Anthony knelt down on one knee just to apologize. "Kate, I'm here to say sorry because I was rude to you... mentally and sexually. I won't do it again. I love you. I wanted to... build a family with you, having heirs from you."

Seeing the seriousness from Anthony's face, Kate then took his hands in hers and then asked him to stand up. Benedict and Imogen? They smiled seeing the both of them reconciled. "I forgive you, My  Lord. Or... I should go back by calling you Anthony again by now? Since your mother surely wanted us to wed."

Church, 16th May 1814, Kate & Anthony Wedding Day

All is well as they have the perfect wedding (according to them it was perfect). It was a very private wedding because only family from both sides and a priest in attendance. And yes, of course... after the wedding proceed, Lady Whistledown uexpectedly released their scandal sheet about their wedding. And after the marriage, they chose to live in Bridgerton House while Lady Bridgerton, the Dowager Viscountess live in Number 5; not far from them. After the marriage, both Anthony and Kate found the new scandal sheet from Lady Whistledown about their marriage.

It seems by today, the Viscount Bridgerton and Miss Kate Sheffield is tie the knot in a marriage after all of the scandals going on about them.

But, can you guess dear reader? Will the whispers and rumours stop after the marriage happened?

Bridgerton House, Morning Room, time jump to year1822

Year 1822, Kate is again with another child. She feels the morning sickness is more this time. "Anthony, I guess... this time, it's a girl. After we are blessed with two boys, it's time for the girl." She said. Kate and Anthony have two sons already; Edmund Bridgerton II who is now seven and Miles Bridgerton who is now five. They are at school now. But, Anthony's eyes widened in shock as he saw his eldest son Edmund Bridgerton II came home from school with his face bruised and his little boy is crying.

You came home crying from school today
Walked past me trying to hide the tears there on your face
It's hard for me to explain
How humans find the pleasure of causing people pain

Anthony looked at crying Edmund and let Kate played a song from their old gramophone. "Darling, you came home crying from school today. If I didn't catch you earlier, you walked past me trying to hide the tears there on your face. Why?" He asked his eldest son. As the eldest son back in the family before having a child back then, Anthony is so protective over his family because he had to. Edmund told him the story.

"Father, I got bullied at school because your name always got in the scandal sheet by Lady Whistledown. They said... me and Miles are children from your affair with mother." Edmund explained while crying. Anthony who heard it sighed. It's hard for him to explain how humans find the pleasure of causing people pain.

But sometimes there's more to the story
And we don't know what's going on in
That home, behind closed doors
Maybe there is something wrong

But, with his wise words... Anthony calmed crying Edmund (and nervous Miles). "Listen, children. But sometimes there's more to the story and we don't know what's going on in that home; behind closed doors. Maybe, there is something wrong about their family. So, listen to me. Be brave, my little one. I know you can be strong. Because you are strong too. Just like your mother right here." Anthony tried to soothe them. 

Edmund and Miles tried to smile and Anthony? He gently wiped their tears.

Anthony said wisely to both of his heirs; Edmund Bridgerton II and Miles Bridgerton. "Say my name. When you're hurting, darling I'll take the demons away. But you know there will come a day when I won't be there but... I know that you'll be okay. Because what? Because you are my blood. Yes, you're my blood, my heirs, my sons."

Edmund and Miles looked at Anthony and waited for their father to tell a story. Edmund started first. "Father, please tell us a story about you and grandmother..." He said. So, Anthony patted his lap just to remind the both of them to sit there before he started.

Oh, I was 22 years old
My mother told me that you learn more as you go
But I've spent many nights alone
Do I need more for me to make this house a home?

"Oh, you wanted to hear? I was two and twenty years old when my mother told me that I will learn more as I go, darling. But, I've spent many nights alone and sometimes I thought... do I need more for me to make this house a home? Because, you know right? That your aunts and uncles are uniquely crazy?" Anthony chuckled lightly; knowing that Bridgerton family dynamic is really unique.

'Cause sometimes there's more to the story
And they don't know what's going on
My life behind closed doors
Maybe there is nothing wrong
And I will keep holding on

"You know the ton said about me, darling?" Anthony asked Miles now. Kate saw her husband nurturing their heirs patiently as a father; smiling. Miles? He shook his head. "I don't know, father. What they addressed you?"

Anthony then ruffled Miles' hair lovingly. "Well, because sometimes there's more to the story and they don't know what's going on. My life behind these closed doors... maybe there is nothing wrong. And yes, I will keep holding on for all of my family because I am strong and resilience just like my mother. And when I got bullied like you when I was little, Eddy Neddy..."

And she told me, "Say my name
When you're hurting, darling
I'll take the demons away
But you know there will come a day
When I won't be there, but
I know that you'll be okay
'Cause you are my blood"

"She told me..." Anthony told his children. "Say my name. When you're hurting, darling I'll take the demons away. But you know there will come a day when I won't be there but, I know that you'll be okay. Because you are my blood." Anthony said. "That's what she said. The same way I told you before." Anthony now is ruffling Edmund's hair lovingly.

"You are my blood, my heirs, my children, Edmund Bridgerton, Miles Bridgerton. Especially you, Edmund... you are named after your late grandfather, to honor his being." Anthony then smiled. He is proud to have this two as his children.

"So, remember. When somebody at school hurting you... just say my name. I will take the demons away. Even when I won't be there one day... remember that you will be okay because you are tough because you are my heirs, my blood." Anthony looked at Edmund Bridgerton II and Miles Bridgerton proudly.
