Bastard of Pure Heart

Summary:

It would be a cold day in Hell when Daemon Targaryen remarried, an even colder day if it was a bastard from House Martell.

Today must have been a cold day.

It was in the newspapers; it was everywhere. The question is, why did she agree to marry the 'Rouge Prince'?

Chapter 1: The Princess of Dorne

Chapter Text

The Rouge Prince was a complicated man. He was a strange man. A reclusive man.

That’s why when he married the ‘Beauty of Essos’ it sent the whole of Westeros into shock as they read the newspapers. There, in fine print, it read, ‘Prince Daemon is to marry Princess Inara, of House Martell of Dorne!’

It was a miracle that someone convinced him to settle down and create a family. But maybe this lady wasn’t as lucky as others thought.

Inara herself was a charming woman known for her ability to make even the most battle-hardened Knights smile. Her brown skin resembled that of a bison, and her black curls cascaded down to the small of her back like a river. She had a sharp nose and an even sharper jawline.

She was compared to that of a Musk Deer because of her ‘vampire-like’ teeth and sharp yet soft features.

Maybe this was why Daemon had to have to her.

Why he had to claim her.

Many suitors sought her hand, hell, she could have done better than Daemon so why him?

Money? She had plenty of it.

Age? He was quite older than the 24-year-old, being 45.

Charisma? There were more charming than him.

So why him?

And why her?

Would he remain faithful? He was known to be a ‘player’ of sorts, and he had been married twice already. Once to Rhea Royce, widowed, and then to Laena Velaryon; who also left him a widow with twin daughters who were now 16.

Maybe this man was bad luck. Maybe that was a sign that she shouldn’t have accepted his proposal, but Inara was stubborn at heart.
