Chapter Text

Tim and Damian's Complicated Relationship

From the moment Damian Wayne arrived in Gotham, his presence disrupted the established dynamics of the Bat-family, especially with Timothy Drake. To Damian, Tim represented a conundrum. He was the prodigy who had earned Bruce Wayne's admiration, and to Damian, who idolized his father (Batman), this made Tim both a rival and a partner in crime-fighting. The teenage detective had an aura of authority and competence that seemed to overshadow Damian’s own role, making their initial interactions fraught with tension and conflict.

Their first meeting had been anything but smooth. The clash of egos and principles, combined with Damian’s abrasive demeanor and Tim’s tendency to be cautious and skeptical, set the stage for a relationship marked by frequent disagreements. This friction was only exacerbated when Tim began to suspect Damian of having a role in Bruce's apparent death during a particularly tumultuous period. Such suspicions only fueled the ongoing discord between them.

Despite their many clashes, Tim and Damian were not entirely dissimilar. Both were headstrong, relentless in their pursuits, and deeply concerned with the perceptions of those around them. They harbored unresolved abandonment issues and were willing to bend the rules to achieve their goals. Above all, both had a fierce dedication to protecting those they cared about, even if it meant putting themselves at risk.

Over time, as they continued to work together on various missions, their relationship began to shift. What started as bitter arguments and competitive bickering gradually transformed into a more nuanced, albeit strained, camaraderie. They began to notice each other's strengths: Tim admired Damian’s single-minded dedication, while Damian secretly respected Tim’s unwavering commitment to his beliefs. Their interactions, though still laced with tension, became more genuine.

The Mission

After several exhausting weeks of high-stakes patrols and perilous encounters with Arkham’s notorious criminals, Tim and Damian were assigned to a routine patrol. Their task was straightforward: monitor a shed where an emerging gang was rumored to be meeting. The initial phase of the mission went smoothly, and the duo successfully gathered crucial intelligence on the gang’s operations. However, the arrival of Black Mask, a villain who had been notably absent for months, threw a wrench into their plans. His sudden reappearance with a low-profile gang raised suspicions, especially since Jason Todd had been tracking his whereabouts with no success.

The meeting inside the shed took a dark turn when hostages—politicians and high-profile individuals—were introduced into the mix. Tim and Damian intervened swiftly, freeing the hostages and disrupting the gang’s plans. Yet, in the chaos, Black Mask managed to slip away. Determined to prevent any further harm, Tim contacted Barbara Gordon to alert the authorities while he and Damian set off in pursuit.

Their chase led them to another warehouse, but this time, Black Mask had anticipated their moves. The warehouse was rigged with an array of traps, explosives, and toxins, turning their pursuit into a desperate struggle for survival. The tension between the two young heroes reached a boiling point as they navigated the treacherous environment.

The Aftermath

In the midst of their frantic escape from the traps, their mounting frustration and exhaustion erupted. Amidst shouts and accusations, Tim and Damian found themselves in a heated argument. The argument quickly escalated, and in a moment of raw, unfiltered emotion, Tim pinned Damian against the wall and kissed him fiercely. The intensity of the kiss spoke volumes about their pent-up feelings and frustrations.

The next thing they knew, they were in a safe house, their costumes haphazardly strewn across the floor. Their initial confusion gave way to an impulsive, passionate encounter that spread throughout the house—on the counter, in the kitchen, the bedroom, the living room, and even the bathroom. The night was a blur of intense emotions and physical connection.

As dawn approached, Tim and Damian woke up to the reality of their situation. The night had been a whirlwind of unexpected emotions and actions. They faced the need to address what had happened between them. Over breakfast, they had an honest conversation, framing their actions as a result of the intense pressures they had been under.

In the aftermath, their bond remained complex. Days passed, but that one night still lingered in Tim's mind. Unlike other one-night stands, this night was different. Timothy, a detective who clings to facts, couldn't shake the memory. It was a boy—Damian, the same boy who had tried to kill him. Timothy had acknowledged his bisexuality some time ago, but this was not just any boy. Despite their improved relationship, Timothy couldn't stop thinking about Damian. It was confusing and frustrating, and he couldn't deny that he had been preoccupied with thoughts of Damian for a while now. This couldn't be happening...
