The perfect boy

Summary:

This is an AU where Saiki Kusuo and Teruhashi kokomi swapped roles as the powerful psychic and the perfect Angel on earth. Saiki is still his usual self, he loves sweets, solitude, and minimal attention, which is difficult to receive when you’re adored by everyone. He doesn’t understand why. Unlike Teruhashi who acknowledges her perfection, Saiki doesn’t think of himself as the perfect pretty boy.

Teruhashi on the other hand still adores attention, but not in the way you’d expect. She loves causing people to fear her without using or revealing her powers because she wants them to fear her for her, not for what she could do. So when she meets Saiki, a boy who’s honest, and doesn’t sugarcoat much (which causes people to adore him more for some reason) she realizes he doesn’t fear her at all. She makes it her mission to make him at least yelp at her antics, falling in love in the process.

The problem is, Teruhashi has competition.

Will Teruhashi make Saiki fear or love her? Will she lose him to her many romantic rivals? Will she make Saiki acknowledge his perfection?

Chapter 1: The perfect beginning

Summary:

Saiki’s perfect origin, the beginning of his perfect life

Chapter Text

Saiki was conceived on the perfect night, the 2 year anniversary of his parent’s wedding. He was born exactly 9 months later, on the dot. When he was born, he had a face that made even the doctors smile and blush, for he was the perfect baby. He didn’t cry much after birth, especially not after being handed to his mother, the doctors could only describe him as a mama’s boy.

People from all over would come to the hospital to see this perfect, healthy, adorable pink haired baby. They’d seen children with all kinds of hair colors, blue, purple, green, black, brown, blonde, yellow, orange, red, etc. But a pink haired baby was especially rare. This just added to the rumor to the fact he was a reincarnation of a god of some sort.

All throughout his childhood, the boy was praised for his perfection. It was almost as if he had no flaws, he was athletic, competitive and a good sport, smart, humble, helpful, honest, kind, loving, optimistic, but the most perfect trait of his, was undeniably his looks.

Everyone who knew him, everyone who’d seen him, they would all agree. “He has the face of an Angel.”

The kind of face you could stare at for hours and not find a single flaw. The kind of face people would stop to look at on the street. The kind of face that causes traffic. The kind of face not one person could ever say no to. Ever.

Saiki’s big brother was a famous actor since he was a small child. Acting agencies would constantly request Kusuo become an actor, but neither Kusuke nor Saiki’s mother, Kurumi would allow it. Kusuke would rather give up on acting as a whole than allow his previous baby brother be corrupted by the stress of being a child actor, Kusuke would say. For he adored Kusuo as much as anyone else. But definitely not more the Kurumi.

Kusuo had always been more attached to his mother. He loved her more than any person in the world, and considering she viewed Kusuo as the most perfect boy in the world, she wore the label with pride.

Now Saiki was 16 and entering his second year of high school. Wondering what would await him this school year. Saiki always wished he was homeschooled. Constant praise would often overwhelm the boy. Especially since he preferred being alone. But his mother would encourage him, and he couldn’t say no to her.

Saiki walked out of his home, head held high to hide the disappointment he felt in seeing his friends awaiting him. Saiki found them a bit annoying, but endearing. Kaidou Shun and Nendou Riki. Saiki walked up to them.

”Hey, buddy! Ready for another first day???” Nendou asked enthusiastically. Saiki simply nodded with an awkward smile. “Don’t worry, Saiki. I promise to protect you from dark reunion! I would never let them take an Angel such as you!” Kaidou said. He had a huge platonic (and slightly romantic) crush on Saiki.

Saiki sighed. “Thanks Kaidou… let’s just head to school, alright?” He said in a soft tone. Saiki’s voice was always so calming and gentle. The kind people could fall asleep to. Too bad he’d hardly talk, despite being so perfect, he was awfully shy (which people argued would just add to his cuteness)

As they walked, many girls would stop to gawk at Saiki’s looks, and boys would stop to stare in envy. They wished to be like Saiki. But they could never hate him, for he was precious.

Once they made it past the gates, Saiki was surrounded by people. Girls complimenting him and giving him gifts, boy asking for his routines and diet to try and be more like him. Saiki was overwhelmed by all this attention. Thankfully, one of Saiki’s most powerful friends, Saiko Metori came to his aid, having bodyguards make room for Saiki and him.

Saiki was the only person besides his father who he truly respected, and sort of liked. “Be thankful I decided to help you, Saiki… after all, im a great friend to you.” He said proudly, taking Saiki by the sleeve to walk to class. Saiki halted, gesturing to Kaidou and Nendou who were trapped behind the bodyguard wall. Reluctantly, Saiko let them in.

”I don’t know why you tolerate them, Saiki. They’re way out of your league. Not like me, who you should consider your closest friend” Saiko said, trying to hint at the fact he really wanted to be Saiki’s best friend.

“We should just head to class, it’s starting soon.” Saiki replied, as he began to walk in the direction of his classroom. His three friends followed close by. Once Saiki entered the classroom, he was met by another of his friends, Aren Kuboyasu.

”Hey Saiki! Last night I tuned up my motorcycle a bit… maybe I could show you sometime later? Take you for a ride around town?” Kuboyasu said, clearing just wanting a reason to be with him. He was another one with a bit of a platonic-yet-semi-romantic crush on Saiki.

“Sorry, pleb. Saiki told me yesterday he’d come see a movie with me in my own private theatre” Saiko said, wrapping his arm around Saiki while giving Kuboyasu a threateningly smirk and glare. The purple haired boy managed to keep his cool despite feeling pure unfiltered rage on the inside.

”is that so?” He said, his voice straining slightly. “Not to be rude, but maybe we could invite ourselves too? What do you think Saiki?” He said, staring into his deep purple eyes.

”Uhm… if it’s okay with you, Saiko… I was thinking we’d invite more people.” Saiki suggested, not wanting to make anyone upset, and it showed. Saiko sighed and reluctantly agreed. “But you’re not the only plebs coming! Don’t think you’re special… I will invite more people with class.”

Saiko looked around the classroom and decided on 7 random people. Yumehara, Mera, Hairo, Toritsuka, Teruhashi, Imu and Aiura.

”You! Plebs! You’re invited!” Saiko said.

Obviously, they were excited to be invited to a sleepover with the perfect boy and the millionaire classmate. Except for one.

Teruhashi Kokomi. She didn’t care for the supposed perfect boy. Because she didn’t see it. After all, her powers caused her to only see his bones/muscles unless if she was wearing her ring, which would cancel out her powers and allow her to see people clearly. But Teruhashi didn’t like to wear it. She preferred forcing people to bend to her will by instilling fear in them. And she planned to do the same to this stupidly perfect boy.

Using her ring caused her to be able to see people’s faces and feelings and cause her to feel remorse. But she didn’t want to feel remorse. Especially not remorse for pranking mr.perfect.

Teruhashi had already hatched a plan. The moment that kept playing in her head as she smugly thought about what she’d do was the day she met him.

✮initiating flashback✮

It was a sunny day out, a Saturday, and Saiki was walking down the street to the grocery store to buy some things his mother needed. He was receiving many stares and people saying things like “oh wow” or “ofu” to him. This caught Teruhashi’s attention. Why was this boy stuck in so many people’s heads?

She didn’t get why they thought of him as perfect. But Teruhashi decided it’d be fun to scare him and show people how pathetic a supposed perfect boy can be. She snuck up behind him and grabbed his shoulders suddenly. He jumped slightly but wasn’t fazed when he looked behind him.

”Hi. You’re Teruhashi, right?” He said politely. Teruhashi was shocked. Surely she thought he’d be trembling at the sight of her, but he was greeting her? And not even his mind was scared?

”Yeah… who’re you.” She said, at an attempt to offend him in any way. But he wasn’t!

”Saiki Kusuo. We’re in the same class” He extended a hand to her. She refused to shake his hand.

”so… uhm… what’re you doing out here? C-cause I was looking for roadkill so I could get it stuffed and hung in my bedroom…” she said, trying her best to sound like a total creep to him. But he, once again, was not fazed in the slightest.

”ah that’s nice of you. Cleaning up the streets for a good cause.” Saiki said. Dammit this boy! Why does he always somehow find a silver lining?! Stupid perfect boy!!!

”ahm… well I wasn’t gonna stuff all of it… I was gonna feed some to my rabid dogs” Teruhashi added.

”oh no, your dogs have rabies? That sucks. If you don’t have the funds for their treatment I could always help out!” Saiki offered. Teruhashi was distraught. Why was he so hard to creep out?!

”ahm… no… I don’t need it. But I was thinking I’d… uhm…” The blue haired girl struggled to come up with something. The first two options usually worked! She stood there for a moment before getting an idea.

”Where do you live, Saiki? I want to visit you…” She said in a stalker-like tone with a creepy expression. Saiki just smiled. “I can take you to my house soon. I just need to get some groceries is all. Want to come along?” He said. WHY IS HE SO PERFECT?! ITS INFURIATING!!! Teruhashi thought.

“no… I think I’ll just head home” she said in a defeated tone. She couldn’t scare him, no matter how hard she tried. She was pissed! But… why…? Why was she getting this strange warm feeling in her chest…? A feeling like never before… it wasn’t anger… no… it was something she’d refuse to admit to herself.

He had won… for now.

Ever since that day Teruhashi would stalk him with telepathy and clairvoyance, she had determined 2 things for 100% sure. Saiki loves sweets, and hates bugs.

✮End of Flashback✮

And that was apart of Teruhashi’s little plan. To give Saiki a box full of disgusting crawly cockroaches in front of everyone at the sleepover… she smirked as she visualized it… Saiki opens the box and freaks out, he tells Teruhashi he hates the gift and she cries, making everyone see how horrible Saiki can be! Not so perfect now, huh?

After school, Teruhashi went home and packed up for the sleepover. As she was packing, her brother’s image suddenly flashed on the screen.

“hello, Kokomi! How are you? Why’re you packing?” He asked nosily. Teruhashi rolled her eyes. “None of your business, Makoto.” She replied firmly. Makoto just laughed.

”classic Kokomi. I lied, I already know why you’re packing. You’re going to a sleepover at that rich boys house with the perfect boy.” Makoto said. Not even he could resist Saiki’s charms. “Please can I come along? I’m not busy today! I want to see that perfect boy in person…”

Teruhashi shook her head. She finished packing and reached under her bed, pulling out the box of live cockroaches. She smirked, wrapping the box in wrapping paper as her brother watched. “What’s that? A present for perfect boy?”

”sure is…” she said deviously. She held the present and walked out the door with her bags in hand as she began walking to Saiko’s house with Yumehara and Mera.
