Diana's Discovery

Summary:

Diana finds something in the forest.

Notes:

yes ik that Windie is just jp arcanine. but to me that's her arcanine's nickname

Work Text:

There was an explosion in the forest. It shook the trees, pouring leaves down on the trainer and Pokemon.

The Arcanine perked toward it, as did the trainer.

"Let's go, Windie!" Diana shouted out, causing the dog Pokemon to go sprinting toward it. "Extreme Speed!"

Windie dashed until it was there, ending in a clearing, a curled-up child - similar-ish to her daughter - perhaps 2 or 3, with a teal pendant around her neck.

She let out a hum of surprise - a child? Here? In a forest? After an explosion? Really? And the pendant - it's awfully shiny - and a bit chipped - and certainly worth investigating. Maybe it could be a new link to Lucius!

She carefully removed the amulet from the sleeping child, patting down the hair that was turned up.

As she investigated the pendant, both it and the child began to glow. It slipped out of her hand to the ground, upon which she... morphed.

The child's skin glimmered blindingly, and when Diana could see once more, a cyan turtle was in her place. It seemed to have a larger version of the chipped pendant as a shell. It continued sleeping soundly, unaware of the transformation. The nearby amulet lay undisturbed.

Diana picked up the crystal pendant once more, slotting it back over the Pokemon's long neck. The same process occured, and the child was sleeping once more.

She thought for a moment. "Windie!" The Arcanine perked up. "We're going to Lucca's house." She scooped up the child, wrapping her in her scarf, and jumped onto the Arcanine's back.

And so, they ran to her daughter's home.

---

After a while, they arrived at Lucca's house on Cabo Poco. She could see her daughter's husband in the window, painting as usual.

She hopped off her Arcanine and rapped on the door. Her daughter soon answered. They exchanged pleasantries and Diana presented the child. "I understand you've been having issues recently," she said, "so I came right here after I found this child. She needs protecting, and you want a child. How about it?"

Lucca conferred with her husband about the offer. After a while, they accepted. Diana left with a warning to make sure the child's pendant stays on.
