Work Text:

They'd learned hugging from the humans. Metal and hard edges did not make hugging come naturally - but Jazz had converted Prowl anyways. The whole "in disguise" thing meant Cybertronians often took on the mannerisms of other species, or maybe it was the other way around. Their frames made it awkward - the not-quite-human proportions limited their hugging positions.

So, when Jazz ambushed Prowl at the end of their shifts, they said their Happy Anniversaries and Prowl returned a lopsided embrace.

"C'mon, the 'Cons will wait," Jazz urged. The 'Cons had waited for a vorn; they'd probably spend two more moving pieces into place before making a move. High Command pushed the army to make sure the Autobots made their own move before then. The whole thing wouldn't crash and burn if two Command members took a day or two off, especially if someone scheduled it in megaorns ahead of time.

"What movie did you choose?" Prowl asked.

"Well, I couldn't really choose just one, and we've got some time, so I have a little bit of a movie marathon," Jazz said, ducking his helm sheepishly. "Stuff like Spyglass and Second Opinion. You liked Lost Cause so I added Love Lost, the sequel."

"My suggestion was going to be Subspace Thieves."

"That's on the list, yeah." Jazz had curated a list of pre-war movies - and a few movies produced by Autobot film junkies in their downtimes. Pre-war military films didn't compare to their lives with the Autobots, so those were out, however popular they might have been with the troops. Luckily, they shared a taste for legal dramas and romance thrillers. And Jazz had thrown in a couple others he thought the two of them might like, because Prowl usually gave unfamiliar movies a shot. At least for the first twenty minutes.

"I'm glad you've thought of everything, Sweetspark," Prowl purred, obviously pleased.

"Well, not everything. You brought energon?"

"Yes, I did," Prowl said, unsubspacing a single candy. "Would you like to try?" He presented it dramatically, pinched between his fingers.

"Would I ever," Jazz purred, moving closer. Prowl popped the candy behind Jazz's lips. The cobalt flavoring tasted sweet on Jazz's tongue as he ate.

"Okay," he said unceremoniously when the candy was gone. "Where's the rest? It's your turn."

Prowl laughed and unsubspaced the box, handing it over reverently. It'd probably begun life as a display case for some sort of small blade or pistol at one point, but now the foam cushioned tens of little energon treats. Someone had painted the thing with a beautiful gold and white pattern. Jazz gave Prowl an energon candy in the same way. Prowl savored it, letting it dissolve in his mouth. Then they each ate a couple more.

"Shit, we've gotta start the movie now or these'll be gone in the first five minutes," Jazz said.

They moved to the couch quickly after that. Blankets, candies, and energon cubes ready, they settled onto the worn cushions.

"First up is Second Opinion, unless you've got a second opinion."

"Sweetspark," Prowl sighed. "No, that's good. Put it on." He wrapped an arm around Jazz's shoulders.

Jazz scooted closer. "Hey, I love you."

"Love you too."

He pinged the display to start and they forgot their worries together.
