"There has to be another way," Mariposa hums, tapping her lips. They're staring down at a map that has both Flutterfield and Shimmervale on it, along with the collection of smaller kingdoms and areas in between. It's what Mariposa had brought back to Flutterfield to get finished before returning again. It's become a common trip for her, but one that takes far too long.
"As of right now, it's an entire flight over the ocean or we attempt to talk with the Mermaids on it," Catania runs her finger over the map. "There's something they have that can make one breathe underwater. But, I'm not sure if it'll be any more effective of a path. Besides, I doubt they'd help us out anyway."
"I know exactly what you're talking about," Mariposa nods, "We ate some sort of plant in order to be able to meet a couple of mermaids when we were trying to save the Queen. But, wait- You know some mermaids? And why wouldn't they help us?"
"I don't really know them, I just know of them." Catania shrugs, "We don't interact much, at all, and we don't get along. It's..." She trails off, "Complicated. And far too similar to our feud with the Butterfly fairies for my liking."
"Wait? Still about the crystals?"
Catania shakes her head. "No, this one is more about... Pride, perhaps?" She points at a cove not too far south from the main city of Shimmervale. "This cove is pretty much the issue, or at least was. There was a lot of arguing over whose it was. It created a sour point between us, and since they live underwater and us on land, there hasn't been anything to ease the tension."
"We can still try and ask them about it though, right?" Mariposa says, "It's not anything bad, is it?"
"Nothing bad at all, now. As I said, I assume it's really all pride now. But, we've been so focused on the Flutterfield thing that we haven't looked toward fixing our relationship with them."
"Now's the time, then!" Mariposa grabs her hands, "We can ask and try to strengthen the relationship between your kingdoms! And then, maybe we can find the path we're looking for!"
Catania smiles, holding her hands tightly. "Okay."
When Mariposa gets into a small argument with a Mermaid over some seaweed, Catania is slightly thankful that it wasn't her idea.
