25 Days of Drarry-mas

Summary:

It's Drarry season, and after many years of watching from the sidelines, I have decided to give it a go!

Each story will be a stand-alone, one-shot, drabble, thing...

Let the festivities begin!

Notes:

Prompt

Day 1 — Icicle on a Branch Tip

A close-up shot of the bough of a spruce tree. The branch is laden down with half-melted snow that sits atop its needles, and an icicle hangs from the tip of the branch, taking up over half of the frame. The brownish background is somewhat blurred, but more snow-covered green boughs (likely from the same tree) are visible in the bottom half of the frame.

Chapter 1: The Perfect Tree

Chapter Text

Draco could feel his butt going numb from the snow he lay upon. His whole back was starting to feel chilled, but he didn't want to move. Somehow, the cold wasn't bothering him the way it normally did.

Opening his eyes, he peered at the snow laden branches above him. An icicle dangled from the tip of a branch, occasionally dripping as it melted. A small, satisfied smile softened his face as the sun warmed his front.

'Are you going to help me pick a tree or not?' came Harry's slightly irritated voice.
Draco's smiled grew to a grin, warming him from the inside.
'Yes.' he announced clearly. 'I choose this one.' he looked up at the tree towering over him again, feeling connected to it as it sheltered him.
'Are you sure? Will it fit?'
Draco rolled his eyes. 'Of course it will. I'm very good at spatial awareness.' A quiet snort came somewhere behind the tree.

Draco could hear Harry rustling about, a few creaks and thuds, but he ignored them. He closed his eyes and moved his arms and legs, creating the snow angel he had initially laid down to make.
Thwump!
'Ow!' Draco sat up, covered in snow that had fallen from the tree, hands snapping to his forehead where a searing pain had appeared.
Harry was beside him in a moment. 'Are you ok?' Although he was clearly concerned, Draco could see he was holding back laughter.
'The bloody tree attacked me. And I'm sure it's given me a hideous scar on my forehead!'
Harry gave Draco a pointed look. Draco pouted 'I'm wounded, my love. Now I'm sad.'
Harry sighed in good humour, 'Let's have a look then.' and pulled Draco's hands away from his head. 'There's nothing there. You're fine. Does it still hurt?'
Draco shook his head in confusion. 'It's fine. Just felt like something stabbed me…'
Harry chuckled and picked up a piece of icicle from Draco's lap.
'I've changed my mind.' Draco suddenly announced. 'This tree is all wrong. And what's more, I can't feel my ass. I think we need to go home, have a hot bath, and try again tomorrow.' he stood up, brushing snow from him and glared at the tree. Harry stood with Draco and kissed him on the forehead where a pink mark was the only evidence of the icicle attack.
'I agree. Let's take the tree I chose.' Harry indicated an already felled tree not far from them. It looked perfect.
