Work Text:

“Were you in love with Adrien Agreste?” Chat Noir asked.

“Yes.” She answered. “For his love, I did everything. But it was too heavy to carry.”

She waited a couple of seconds before asking him.

“And you, Chat Noir? Are you still in love with Ladybug?”

“No. It was too heavy to carry.” He paused. “But for her love, I did everything.”

“You will always have your fans, you know?” she said.

“I bet there wouldn't be such fans if they knew who’s hiding behind the mask.” He sighed.

Marinette started walking towards him.

“I don't mind you wearing a mask.” She stated. “It doesn't matter who’s underneath.”

He turned, and saw her smiling at him.

“Are you that much of a fan?” he asked, trying to make it sound like teasing, but his nerves got the best of him.

“Yes. I’m super… a great fan of you.” She blushed.

Astonished, Chat Noir got up and started getting closer to her.

“Fan… like…” he couldn't finish the sentence. He got distracted looking at her, and didn't see her next action coming.

“The kind of fan who’s ready to do this.” she kissed his cheek, feeling the warmth of his skin aganist her lips.”

Chat Noir looked at her, dumbstruck.

“Oh, that?” He asked nervously.

“Yes.” She nodded. “And even this.”

She kissed his nose, letting him breath in her fragance for a second, before she pulled back.

His thoughts were now filled with the feeling of her sweet lips against his face, making it hard to think straight. His body was acting on its own.

“Why not this?” He said, before leaning in and kissing her cheek, his lips barely touching the corner of her mouth.

Marinette closed her eyes at the sudden touch, but she opened them again, noticing that Chat Noir hadn't moved back, but instead had his face only mere inches away from hers.

She saw his smile and his soft green eyes looking into hers, and she couldn't help herself, so she leaned in, closing the distance between them.

She could tell that he wanted this as much as she did, because he leaned his head just the right angle to make their lips meet each other in the most perfect way. She put a hand on his face, and got lost in the kiss.

Chat Noir felt his heart almost leaping out of his chest the moment she kissed him. Her lips were softer than he’d ever imagined. Was this real? He opened his eyes for a second, to confirm that, yes, he was kissing Marinette Dupain-Cheng.

Needing to breath, he broke the kiss, but felt Marinette’s forehead leaning on his, with her hand still on his cheek.

A part of him started panicking. He’d just kissed Marinette Dupain-Cheng, a civilian who didn't know who he was behind the mask. Was he taking advantage of her because she was his fan? Had he been reckless with his actions?

But he looked at her. Marinette wasn't just a random fan like the ones that would ask for a picture of him when he was patrolling, or the ones that would chase him as Adrien, desperate to have a part of the model, and not the person that he was underneath.

Marinette wasn’t really a “fan” of Chat Noir. They’d gone past that stage a long time ago. And he never thought of her as such.

She wasn’t the kind of person that only wanted the shiny, bright, and famous part of him, as either Adrien or Chat Noir. She was his friend. A friend that made him feel seen when he needed it the most. A friend that looked past the rumours and the image that his father and his role as superhero had made him portray to the public in both of his personas.

She didn't see him as “Adrien Agreste, the model” or “Chat Noir, the superhero”. She saw him for who he really was, and thanks to André, he now knew that she loved both sides of the real him.

He didn't know how he’d gotten so lucky to be worthy of having such an amazing person as Marinette loving all of him, but he wouldn't waste his chance.

He looked down at her, and saw pure love and adoration in her eyes, so without a second thought, he kissed her again.

And again.

And again.

Until André got akumatized.

He broke his fourth kiss with Marinette, sighing. She laughed at the exasperated expression on his face. He smiled at her, and made sure to take her somewhere safe to protect her from the battle.

Before he left to fight Glaciator, Marinette gave him one last kiss, with the promise that they’d talk later.
