Chapter Text

Quentin was downcast. A month ago he had left the Sinister Six, he was no longer an enemy of Spiderman. He liked Parker, really, he was funny and he really enjoyed his jokes and pranks while they fought. The problem was Deadpool. Ever since he had shown up, Quentin had noticed that Spider-Man wasn't paying as much attention to him as before, his attention now focused more on Wade. He had never liked people to ignore him and that was what he had felt with Spiderman ever since Deadpool had come between him and Peter. He felt rejected, like he was the third in a relationship.

My God, if he and Parker weren't dating. Mysterio and Spiderman had always been enemies and their relationship was not going to change.

Now Quentin was enjoying a beer in a local bar, atypical of the ones he used to frequent, this was a good joint, for families and good people, not for the kind of ilk that Quentin used to hang out with. But in that bar he could rest easy, because none of his fellow villains would frequent a place like that, well, maybe Toomes with his daughter, but he was too far away from his current area.

For a month, Mysterio no longer operated in Queens, although he was still in New York, he had decided to completely ignore Spiderman, to make him feel exactly how he felt. He now operated in Hell's Kitchen, but fighting Daredevil wasn't the same. Yes, he knew who Daredevil was, because being an ally of Spiderman, he had to be under his watch. That didn't mean that he was going to make it easy for him or that he was going to reveal the hero's identity to everyone, he had already learned his lesson with Parker and he doubted that Parker would be as understanding with him now as he was then.

He missed Spiderman, his agility, flexibility and webs that he had grown used to. He had grown attached to Parker ever since he had known him, despite all the blunders they had made for each other all these years. What had his life become?

- Hello, can I sit here?

A well-educated gentleman, without any hint of being a criminal, villain, Shield's secret agent (although he currently doubted the kind of people Shield was hiring, with what could be a possibility), masked hero, had approached him. That left only two more possibilities: someone had paid him to deliver a message, or the guy was trying to hit on him.

"Of course, sit down." Quentin replied.

The guy had sat down when Quentin offered it to him and not before. He had manners and looked somewhat sweet. He was kind of endearing and he kind of reminded him of Parker. If he did not know that the boy's parents had died, this man could have been identical to his father.

- I know who you are.-said the stranger.-I recognized you.

Bad business. He was trying to lay low for a while, but now he would have to leave and find another place. Who was behind him? Hydra? Shield? The Avengers?

- I work for the X-Force.-continued the man.-My name is Peter.

Fuck. Quentin thought. Deadpool. Of all the people he didn't want to meet. How much time did he have to get out of that bar before he and Deadpool inevitably ran into each other? Had Spiderman had something to do with it?

- Don't worry, I'm not here for a mission.-Peter continued.-I saw you alone and thought I'd keep you company. Parker sends his regards. He sometimes takes care of my cat, he is a good guy. Aren't you very talkative? Don't worry, listen, don't tell Parker I told you this, but the truth is that Daredevil is being soft on you because Parker made him promise that he wouldn't hurt you and that he would control himself when he dealt with you.

Quentin was furious. He had noticed something off about him fighting Daredevil, but he had attributed it to the slowness that anyone other than Spider-Man would have.

"Tell him I'm an adult, I don't need to be taken care of." Quentin made sure his voice reflected the anger he felt.

"He takes care of you because he cares about you," Peter refuted. "Because no matter how much Deadpool tells him it's not necessary, Spiderman will always take care of his villains. With great power comes great responsibility and all that."

They were both silent for a while, drinking their beers. It was depressing to think about his situation. Quentin was tired. He should have thought long ago what it really meant to be a supervillain and sought less risky work like a normal person. Now it was too late to rebuild his life.

"It's not too late to go back to him, you know?" Peter said. "Whatever happened between you two, you can work it out."

- Parker and I are not a couple.-Quentin said perplexed.-I don't know what made you think that we are.

- Aren't you? -Apparently, Peter was also perplexed. -I'm sorry, the way Parker talks about you has made me wonder several times the nature of your relationship.

Quentin knew he wasn't drunk, because he had only had one beer and this Peter wasn't drunk either because his actions and the fact that he had barely touched his drink made him look sober. That man was interesting, he didn't look like a superhero, but he claimed to be one.

"How did you join the X-Force?" Quentin asked to start a conversation.

- Well, I got divorced a month before I saw the ad and at that time I had been signing up for all kinds of things: chef, climbing, ballroom dancing, youtuber. When I saw the ad I said why not? Now that I am young, I have to take advantage of the time and do many activities so as not to think about my ex-wife. I missed her so much, X-Force is my family now and I don't feel so alone anymore.

Quentin hadn't really been listening to him. He had only asked for education. But when Peter fell silent, looking at him, he knew he was talking to him and he had no idea what.

"Sorry, I couldn't hear you well." Quentin said. "What did you say?"

"That you're more handsome in reality than what Parker told me." Peter said. "Do you want to go somewhere else?"

The next morning, when Quentin woke up naked with Peter in his arms, all he could think about was that this wasn't the Peter he wanted to wake up to every morning, but that Peter's name was exactly the one he wanted to say every day for the rest of his life. Maybe his problems with Spiderman weren't exactly what he thought and maybe one day he'd have enough guts to talk to Peter Parker about it. For now he would have to talk to Daredevil and tell him that he was going back to Queens, that what he had with Spiderman he could never have with him. He didn't know why exactly, but he sensed that Daredevil was going to be very relieved to hear that.

When had his life become all this chaos?
