Chapter Text

Cale wandered through the streets as usual after drinking non-stop, more than usual. Unlike the days he had caused ruckus Cale walked silently. It had been a normal day until he happened to chance by a party where his family was attending and seeing how perfect they were together Cale had hurriedly walked out before anyone noticed him.

As Cale was walking along, he happened to stumble on something. Cale barely caught himself from falling as he righted himself before he looked to find the source of his misstep.

But as he was doing so he came face to face with a person, a woman in black, only the face was visible. Cale gasped at the sudden appearance of the person before he could stop himself.

He was sure that he had been alone when he was walking on the streets yet this person had came out of nowhere.

Immediately Cale felt  an urgent need to get out of the place, knowing that if he were to ever talk with them, his life might change. Yet Cale after calming down, looked at the woman enquiringly and before he could stop himself asked, "Who are you?"

Hearing this the woman beamed at him, as if she had been waiting for him the whole day.

Immediately Cale felt himself wanting to get away. Something about the smile unsettled him.

He shook his head trying to get the thoughts out of his head but to no avail.

Deciding to ignore them he turned to the woman who was looking at him as if amused.

"Child, come with me and i'll give you an answer"

Cale flinched upon hearing what the woman said. Of course he was the one who had talked to her, but after hearing her voice which was unusual and how she had addressed him, Cale started to feel unsure.

Once again he ignored the feeling hurrying after the woman who was already walking away.

He stopped himself almost stumbling into the woman when she had suddenly stopped.

He wondered why the woman had led him here. As far as he knew this was part of the place which had been deserted for years.

But as Cale looked up he felt his throat go dry.

In a place that was supposed to be full of tumbledown shacks and huts, stood a huge black mansion, the type anyone would read in the fantasy books that were popular.

Cale looked at it both in shock and wonder.

The intricate carvings, the gargoyle's and dragon structures that adorned the mansion made it look like a gothic vampire's mansion right out of  a book, thought Cale dazed at the magnificence of the building.

"A beauty isn't it?"

He was bought out of his thoughts from the woman's muttering. Hearing it Cale looked at her wondering why she had referred it so.

"Ah it's not mine but its the stupid God of Death's- ahem i mean, never mind. Child let's go in" she said.

Cale was sure that the woman had just said the God of Death.

He decided to put it as himself not having a good hearing, because he was drunk. Or maybe the whole thing was a delusion he had came up by himself. If so he might as well enjoy himself right?

He reassured himself, thinking so as  he followed behind the woman who was now by the steps of the mansion, knocking on the huge doors which opened with a resounding creak.

Cale followed behind the woman looking around the place in awe, a chandelier made of glass hung from the ceiling, making the mansion more unreal.

Cale looked around, seeing how the place was covered in marble, which he was sure were he to remove his shoes and place his feet on them, it would be cold.

As he was drinking in the sights of the mansion a low chuckle reverted through the air, making him turn towards the direction where it had came from.

He glanced in relief when he saw the woman. He had forgotten about her whilst he was glancing around the mansion.

"I-"

Before he could complete his sentence the woman stopped him.

"I know it take's some time to get adjusted to this place. I too was like that" she said smiling gently.

Cale silently looked at the woman. Now that his suspicions were confirmed he wondered whom the mansion belonged to and if so, why the owner wanted to meet him.

Seeing his questioning glance the woman said, "Follow me" before turning away to walk into the deeper into hallways.

Cale too hurriedly followed behind.

As he did so ,he thought how if normal people were to encounter such a situation, they would run away and as he thought so  he wondered whether he wasn't normal after all.

He smiled slightly as the thought crossed his mind, not noticing the way that they were going.

Soon the woman came to a halt, making Cale too who was walking behind her stop.

They had came to a dimly lit room which had lower ceilings than the rest, but the room was full of silhouette's of people who stood unmoving.

For the first time since Cale had came here he felt a slight fear. He didn't believe in supernatural things, neither did anyone living in his century for they had came as far as they could in magic as well technology.

But technology had far suppressed magic, its ease of use making it more popular, leading to magic being something recorded in books.

Cale felt a tiny bead of sweat on his forehead as he looked around for the woman who seemed to have disappeared. He swallowed nervously as he called out to her.

"Umm miss-?"

Realizing that he didn't know the other's name he cursed himself. Just as he was about to turn back and walk away he heard footsteps resounding from the side of the room.

He whirled around to look at the place to see a man who wore a veil of black on his face walk forward.

"Who?"

Cale asked sighing in relief upon seeing the woman who waved reassuringly at him.

"Ah nice to meet you child. You must be Cale Henituse" the man uttered.

Hearing the wretched name Cale flinched slightly.

"Yes why did you bring me here?" he asked stiffly, now that he was in the presence of the said man he felt an unknown sense of fear and awe.

As if sensing his fear the man chuckled, "Don't worry child we want to give you something"

Cale who was getting annoyed at being called a child rose his eyebrows at the mention of them wanting to give him something.

"Well hand it over" he said reaching out his hand.

He might as well be bold as he didn't care about his life.

But his action only seemed to amuse the man, as the man just laughed waving his hand dismissively.

"I don't think you would be able to carry it by yourself we will send him to you"

"Him?" asked Cale suspiciously.

Hearing his question the man flinched.

"Ahaha yes we want you give you an android "

"What?"

Cale wondered whether this was a scam and he had unknowingly got caught in it. Lost in his thoughts he didn't notice how the woman had glared at the man before coming forward, smiling sweetly she extended her arms to Cale.

"We were testing a product and child you were the first person to come here so we decided to give it to you for free"

Cale, still not reassured raised his head slightly at the mention of trying out whatever it was for free.

It sucked for him to ask his father for money when he wanted to buy things and free things were definitely welcomed by Cale.

He sighed unsure of what to do.

"Ah did I tell you, the android will be human like and you can share your worries with it and ask it to do whatever you want" the woman said making Cale's hesitance to accept it lower even more.

"Oh also we would take it back soon within a designated time. In that time you can do whatever you want with it." the man exclaimed cheerfully.

Cale felt his reluctance vanish as soon as he heard those words.

"It's definitely free?"

"Yes"

"Even if i might accidently damage it you will not ask for compensation right?"

"Ye- wait damage???" asked the man nervously.

Seeing this Cale scrunched up his face.

"Not on purpose" he said reassuringly as he was now liking the idea of an android whom he could spill his secrets and woes, after all it was nothing but a living machine and at least it was better than talking to nothing.

The man nodded looking as if he wasn't reassured yet.

"Alright when will i get it?" Cale asked, anticipation coursing through him, not noticing how both the man and woman were looking a little pale.

"S,soon" the man said at which Cale nodded, a light smile on his face.

"Then i guess i  have to go now" said Cale noticing the pale expression of his hosts.

They nodded the woman leading him out.

He heard the woman bade him goodbye as he walked out of the mansion.

He too at this turned back to wave to the other when he suddenly froze.

The mansion which he had seen was no longer there, instead tumble down shacks lined the place, casting a hollow feeling to it.

Cale felt his spine go cold as he turned around and walked back to his house, fastening his pace a little bit.

'Well i guess it wasn't real after all' he thought as he walked back to the small residence where he now lived.

It was set apart from his family's villa and he lived alone, having food from shops daily and most of the his time was spend drinking alcohol.

He soon reached the house. It was surrounded by some trees of which he rested beneath when he felt like sleeping and a small garden adorned with flowers, Cale watered daily even though he thought it was a bother.

Cale opened the gate walking through the short path to his house and searched his pockets for his keys.

Upon finding it he took it out, unlocking the door. Once inside, turning on the light he locked the door placing his keys along with other keys of his vehicles and went inside to his living room only to freeze in panic.

A person was standing, unmoving near the couch he usually sat. Cale pulled back his hand which had been reaching for the lights and slowly took out a baseball bat. He wondered where it had came from.

For the first time in many years Cale regretted sending Ron away. At least Ron would be able to defend against anyone though the method was a bit too extreme.

Slowly he moved forward, switching on the light and as he did so he raised the bat in his hands, about to bring it on top of the person's head when he stopped.

The person whoever it was, was not moving and seemed lifeless.

On closer inspection Cale slowly felt a realization sink into him.

'Was what i saw real??' he wondered.

As he was thinking so a strip of paper attached to the person, no the android caught Cale's attention.

Lifting it Cale read along the lines that gave instructions to activate the android.

So child if you are reading this that means you have got the android. Well it doesn't have any specific requirements you see, it works automatically and doesn't need battery. Just say 'Hello Kim rok soo' to activate it~

As Cale read the lines he could imagine the cheery faced man writing it and the resignation the woman must have felt. Slightly snorting at the image in his head he turned back towards the android in front of him.

'Kim rok soo huh?'

He examined the figure of the android which was unexpected. The android or Kim rok soo had midnight black hair and a pair of reddish brown eyes which were surprisingly almost similar to Cale's.

The android was also quite well built a bit more taller than Cale, the outline of muscles visible through the tight black turtle neck shirt it was wearing.

Cale on seeing this started at the android, a bit of jealousy coursing through him. Cale too had tried to build muscles but since he had started drinking, not much of what he had was left.

Sighing he reached out to touch the other's chest muscles and as he placed his hands in them he groaned, the feeling of jealousy getting slightly bigger.

Suddenly realizing what he was doing Cale retracted his hands back, knowing that he would look like a pervert if  the android was a person.

*ahem*

He coughed as he tried to hide his own embarrassment, his face slightly flushed.

"Ah alright lets activate it. Hmmm Hello Kian ruek sue?" he said looking at the android expectantly.

But on seeing that nothing had happened Cale tilted his head puzzled.

'What was wrong? Hadn't he followed the instructions properly?' thought Cale.

As he thought on what might be wrong, he suddenly realized that he might have spelled the name wrong.

Realizing this Cale turned back, facing the android ready to try again.

"Hello Kim ruek soo?"

"Hmm Kian rok soo?"

Cale embarrassed on realizing that he couldn't get the name correct even on his fourth try sat on the couch but as he did so he glanced at the android who seemed to be mocking him. Maybe it was Cale just trying to find and excuse.

Determined Cale got up from the couch and once again uttered the name.

"Hello Kim rok soo"

Surprisingly he got it right this time. Cale grinned at his success, but looked back at the android when a buzzing sound filled the room.

The eyes of the android flickered to life as the android- no Kim rok soo looked at him.

"Hello" the android said lazily. Its voice stoic yet warm.

At that moment Cale swore that he felt that Kim rok soo was real, as he stared at the other frozen.
