Song of Golden-White knight

Summary:

What if someone wrote song of Jaime's greatest deed?

A song/poem about the truth.

Notes:

Just a little idea what if someone learned the truth and wrote a song about it In universe. (Maybe one day I will also write something about how it would change the story should it become known before start of canon.)
It is more of a poem, because I don't really know much about writing songs.
Fair warning: English is my second language and also I prefer free verse (and ultimately also free form poetry), so there could be some actual grammatical mistakes.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

When dark comes and hope is lost, heroes rise and villains fall,

when need calls, they stand strong and true,

whose songs this land knows,

who counts among their ranks,

who is the GoldenWhite knight?

Listen, high and low, summer, winter born,

listen to murmurs of secrets and shadows,

for once upon a time there was a boy fair,

laughing, running, untroubled dreams dreaming,

just a child of love and hope swinging his sword,

sparks of green everlasting joy upon hills and rock,

gold was his fate forever more.

So he grows and dreams, love and duty chain,

so young he comes to Order of his calling,

uh-oh, uh-oh, mistake dearly costing,*

hunted is that castle, ghosts and monsters screaming.

Dragons, stags and wolves,

lions, lions, join the dance of war!

Gold for dawn of ‘nother day, innocence is white,

blood stains for sacrifice and black are wounds

of the hero unsung.

But now we know, all do know,

white is shield, golden his oath,

crimson in soul however hides,

such is the sentinel, protector against dark,

our knight of Goldenwhite.

Our knight of Goldenwhite.

And so he begged his lord to surrender his crown,

but words of rage to be traitor named

unless he brings his father’s head

and this boy, barely a man then saw,

only choice impossible shall be his end,

for how do you measure, measure up

blood of kin, oath to king?

Such horror of Mad King’s wrath

turned blood to ice and flesh to stone,

in his mind despair grew

when blink of eye forever meant;

you could say and say again how weak he is,

but for the sake of others blessing this,

so he could hear of last stand

and sure death among flames of green.

Then he knew, then he knew:

“Burn them all! Burn them all!”

This dragon’s fire will city turn to tomb

and only ashes will be left

of children, women, men in their beds.

In this hour of sorrow and pain gold melted for last,

for how do you measure, measure up

one soul against hundreds of thousands lives?

And so our knight of Goldenwhite blade his drew

to slain those who sought to harm,

father of green fire first to fall,

king in fear turned to flee the hall,

but no prey can escape lion on prowl,

with tears in eyes still sword was true.

Oath broken, oath kept and blood spilt,

lone soul forsaken and city lived,

city lived.

Gold for dawn of ‘nother day, innocence is white,

blood stains for sacrifice and black are wounds

of the hero unsung.

But now we know, all do know,

white is shield, golden his oath,

crimson in soul however hides,

such is the sentinel, protector against dark,

our knight of Goldenwhite.

Our knight of Goldenwhite.

Broken man sat upon Iron throne,

to the gods turned his voice:

Cast your judgement what I care,

cast me to the deepest hell,

I shall walk in with head held high.

But just men, no divine sign showed

and truth untold hid.

Smile of teeth secrets keeps,

into slumber green disappears,

words are harm, words are balm,

lonely soul chooses and sun rises,

knight of duty and love roots lays,

he shall be warrior against it all.

So the fate was decided upon that ancient day,

story unknown, unsung until now,

child of servant saved no longer turns their face,

notes made in city unburn shall hands learn.

So here we are, melodies given and heard,

the guardian cladded in gold and white,

crimson wreathes his sacrifice,

prayers of overlooked name him at last.

Gold for dawn of ‘nother day, innocence is white,

blood stains for sacrifice and black are wounds

of the hero unsung.

But now we know, all do know,

white is shield, golden his oath,

crimson in soul however hides,

such is the sentinel, protector against dark,

our knight of Goldenwhite.

Our knight of Goldenwhite.

Notes:

* This line has actually two version, the second assume author’s deeper knowledge (and such probably not really fitting the In universe explanation): “uh-oh, uh-ou, mistake of his darling”
