Hey all! Welcome to the informal sequel of ‘America, You Great Unfinished Symphony’. You don’t have to read my first story to understand this one; you just need to know that it’s a story where Hamilton reacts to Hamilton while a black woman, Robyn, adds some historical context to the proceedings. (I would appreciate it if you read it though. I’m really proud of it.)
I had a lot of people asking if the characters would react to other things, from the songs that were cut from the musical to other elements of history, and I decided: why not? So that’s the premise this time. Different characters from Hamilton meeting in the same room where they saw the original musical and reacting to different things. History, cut songs, technology, whatever has my interest at the time. Each chapter title will be what they are reacting to, and each chapter description will explain who is in the Room Where It Happens. None of these are going to relate much to each other, aside from historical events being influenced and inspired by other historical events (because that’s how history works and all).
For anyone who wants to nitpick about when the historical figures are being taken from, and why the ones in the room are in the room, and why the way they are reacting isn’t affecting history the same way that I let America, You Great Unfinished Symphony affect history, may I quote Mystery Science Theatre 3000 for you: ‘Just repeat to yourself "It's just a show, I should really just relax...’
So, that’s about it. The first real chapter will be up soon. If there are any particular things that you want the characters to react to, let me know in the comments. The cut Hamilton songs are a given, and I might do a further extended sequel where the Hamilton characters react to the In The Heights movie. I won’t guarantee that all suggestions will become their own chapters, but I will at least consider them all.
