Chapter Text
'Die'
'You deserve to die' the voices of his nightmare said. he swung his head left and right to push those voices out focusing on his sleep.
'Crimson Eyes under watch'
'Fierce ghouls at his tune'
'Death every where'
'That sounds like a spell' he thought warily but kept his eyes closed. Trying to sleep and dream of something that didn't consist of the life he left back.
'With my blood I draw'
'This array of death. I summon thee'
Because he could hear this curse means his name was the one going to be called. He forced himself up and took out a talisman focusing it on the voice he ended up in a strangely dark room. Shaking off his dizziness he looked around the room and saw a little boy about to complete the last piece of the curse array. Running quickly he slid and destroyed the red writing quickly.
'Wei Wuxian I summon thee' he yelled and slammed his palm filled with spiritual energy. Weak but enough to summon someone from the dead. But the only problem was that he wasn't dead.
'What the fuck is wrong with you kid' Wei Wuxian yelled he slumped on the floor to collect back his bearings and get rid of his dizziness from using the transportation talisman. The kid gasped backing away from Wei Wuxian. But after seeing his attire he relaxed and then placed on a smile on his face. Very similar to Wei Wuxian though. 'It worked' he yelled.
'No it didn't if it worked then you would have known cause your entire soul would have ben shattered beyond repair. You would have died and never reincarnated nor gone to the underworld because YOU would never exist ever again.' he said sighing into his hand. He felt hungry and coincidentally so did the kid too. 'But if it didn't work then why are you here' he asked.
'Because I am connected to this array. I created it but sadly I did not get to complete it. I have not gotten to the part where after your wish is completed the ghost can rest blah blah blah. Wait how did you get this?' he asked picking up the books of his experiments in completed and some just random scribbling he did when he was bored in Burial Mounds. 'A strange guy saw me sneaking around in the library and accidentally dropped it. I picked up and was reading through it after I was kicked out of the sect'
'Why were you kicked out? And how old are you? Why do you want to summon me?' Wei Wuxian asked the boy who took a deep breath thinking about the questions wondering if he should lie or not. 'I had feelings towards one of my brothers and they assumed I was crazy but I swear I didn't know he was my brother. I swear I just thought he was really kind and pretty. So they kicked me out. I'm fifteen and I wanted to summon you so that you can get revenge on these people who hurt me and my mom' he said determined. Wei Ying sighed because not only was he young but he was the same age his-
'Your life was fucked.. oh I mean your life was really terrible' The boy nodded. 'Kid. Revenge is best served cold. Don't give people the benefit of seeing you dead or hurt because of their actions. Though they might feel guilty others will feel happy and then find another target of pain.' Wei Wuxian got up and dusted his self off making sure to pick up a few empty talisman papers. He drew on one and was about teleport until the boy stopped him.
'So wait you are not going to eat me' the boy said. Wei Wuxian halted then laughed at the weirdness but then his expression went sad. He sighed I wonder how many things I have been blames for. No no more indulging in the cultivation world. 'Do you want me to eat you' he asked.
'If you get revenge for me I will let you.'
'Kid I don't think I want to eat meat at the moment.' he said trying to scare the boy away with a flash of his red eyes. But instead of being scared the boy showed a similar glint in his gray eyes that looked like his. For some reason it had Wei Wuxian wondering if he had a secret child that he didn't know about or did he have a secret brother. 'You practicing demonic cultivation is going to harm the body, mind and temperament' Wei Wuxian scolded.
'But you practice it' he retorted. 'You don't understand as a fox shift I have my own balance in my body and for my mind I was driven to protect instead of revenge. Unlike you with revenge constantly on your mind. You will be weaker to vengeful spirits and after that they will take over your body and use it as a host to kill people just for the fun of blood lust.' he complained groaning into his hands. His hands ran trough his knotty birds nest sticking at a knot he used that and pulled his hair.
'I don't care let them use it a host. I just want to go to my mommy.' he complained crying into his hands. Wei Wuxian stopped pulling at his hair to crouch down on the mess and bloody hands. He grabbed the boy and pulled him into his chest soothing him. The boy grabbed onto his robes and sniffled into it wailing and letting go of everything. 'It's okay to cry just let it out until you feel better' Wei Ying whispered softly running his hands on the boy's head and humming a nameless tune -Wangxian- he vaguely remembers. The boy's crying died down as he looked up at Wei Wuxian with his beautiful big gray eyes letting it meet with Wei Wuxian's smaller -but big nevertheless- gray ones.
'You are the first one to really care for me after my mom died' he said pouting still remaining eye contact and Wei Wuxian's heart broke at that. It was really unfair for his soft heart. 'Do you want to travel with me' he asked and the boy's eyes widened at that. He nodded with a big smile beaming at Wei Wuxian who in years beamed back. The boy pulled away and sat down bracing his shoulder to Wei Wuxian's and clinging to the bottom of his robes like a child. All of this was too similar to-
'Wait what's your name?' he asked finally remembering. 'Mo Xuanyu. Mo as in -there is none who-. Xuan as in -black/mysterious- and yu as in –feathers- '
'Okay can you fly a sword. God I miss Suibian and Chenqing. Where are they by the way?' he asked tapping his chin all the ten years he was away from the cultivation world and travelling up and down a mountain in a quiet happy village he did not need the use of weaponry like his dizi nor sword. 'The Jin sect has your dizi and the Jiang Sect has your sword since they were the biggest supporter during your death.'
'Wait what. I thought it was the Nie sect who...Ah right I remember that Nie clan don't accept weaponry and prefers the heads while the Lan clan were the least there. Even if they placed more they won't collect my stuff though out of everyone I rather that Hanguang Jun kept my stuff' he said. 'Hanguang Jun does have something of yours each sect does. Other than your weaponry for the other two. The Nie Clan collected your scripts and inventions other than the ones the Jin Sect stole at first and The Lan clan well Hanguang Jun has your clothes and ribbons. I heard that they use the emblems on it to save the disciples from low level creatures or anything causing harm.'
'Wow. The Jin sect is filled with stuck up peacocks. Oh A'Yu your sword.' Mo Xuanyu shook his head and Wei Wuxian sighed hanging his head. 'I got kicked out before my naming ceremony. But as I thought wasn't going to have one anyways'
'None sense you are my disciple now and no I am not going to teach you demonic cultivation not until your mind is stronger. I believe we should sneak out and go to my place so that at least in the town I can ask Xue shifu to make you a sword oh and we need a courtesy name. Maybe I should adopt you from this family too.' Mo Xuanyu brightened up excitedly but then a loud noise came from their stomachs. Wei Wuxian nervously scratched the back of his neck and Mo Xuanyu blushed.
'Oi crazy Mo chop chop it's breakfast oh and don't worry you won't get lunch nor dinner tonight' A bowl of what looked like left overs was pushed into the room through a dog hole. Wei Wuxian felt his body flare up as he was angry his robes were clenched tighter by Mo Xuanyu who shook his head. He realized that he was letting out too much resentful energy that even Xuanyu was getting uncomfortable. He pulled it back into his body along with clearing the ones that stuck to Mo Xuanyu's body from the array.
'That is disgusting. Do they come here often?' he said plainly angry at the food. 'No but my cousin Mo Ziyuan comes in here once a while to steal my talismans' Wei Wuxian sighed and rubbed the creased between his brows.
'Your family business is none of my business. But you are. Hold on tight it will be a little dizzy and draining' He took out a transporting talisman and ignited it using resentful energy.
