Chapter Text
The first thing the Toy Soldier notices, when it come back online from an impromptu sleep cycle, is the screaming.
It is slightly muffled, as night-time screams on Aurora usually are, but it is also unusual in that it seems to be someone new screaming.
It knows the voice, but it cannot seem to remember whose it is!
Is it Jonny? No. His nightmare noises are much quieter.
Is it Nastya? No. She will be asleep with Aurora right now.
It checks through it's list of names, until it reaches Ivy. Ah. Ivy is the one making all the noise!
The Toy Soldier clambered out of the pile of octokittens in which it had been laying. It needed to go and make sure that Ivy was alright.
But first, it must make her some tea! Ivy's favorite tea changed most days, so it wasn't quite sure what it should make. Oh! It knows exactly what it should pick! A surprise tea!
It asks Aurora to prep the tea whilst it makes its way to the library, where it knows that Ivy will be sleeping. By the time it gets there, her sleepy wails have died down a bit, but she is still very upset.
And so the Soldier sits by the pile of bean bag and pillows and blankets where she is sleeping, and waits, gently stroking her hair with one careful wooden hand. The tea is nearly ready.
Finally, Ivy's eyes open. She look around, confused, with tears in her eyes, and the first thing she sees is the Toy Soldier, teacups ready, and arms open wide for a hug.
