Hi! Welcome to the HEVN Series Guidebook rewritten! Because the last one was a bit formal and honestly too flowery and wordy so I’m doing another guidebook! This time more concise (hopefully) and simple to understand for anyone curious enough to get a glimpse of the monstrous alternate universe my brain decided to create and continue to create for the last 8 years.
So, I'm midnightsweets and HEVN will be the only thing I'll be posting about here on Ao3 (except for Another Day but that's a story for another day).
A Short Synopsis of HEVN:
HEVN really is just the name of a group of companies in this AU. It's called HEVN because it’s a haven for all of the companies under it and for the economy they support. They’re a pretty big group of companies with a lot of big names under it, plus a couple of charities and/or non-profit organizations.
Paradise, on the other hand, is this shadowy group of the criminal underworld. The Sanctuary is their headquarters. Paradise is kinda like Illuminati but kinder(?) and they have these agents/units under their name. Some of these units may be of mafia, yakuza or triad origins.
First things first, though, what in the world made me decide to write this massive AU series?
- honestly? i just wanna write all of my faves interacting but in a different setting
- also i love the supernatural genre, especially if it’s in the modern setting
- and well, it’s pretty cool.
Next, why HEVN?
- the HEVN series evolved from Sides of a Coin (which is still under construction in my AFF account) when I lost the draft I made for SoaC on my dying BlackBerry, I just decided to rewrite everything
- HEVN’s such a cool name (yes, I am a dork inside)
- also HEVN was the name of a character in Get Backers (it’s this really old anime, look it up. it’s good)
Squicks or Warnings to know before reading this series:
- some of the characters are GENDERBENT
- for various reasons (e.g disguise, might have an actual kid*, etc.)
- some of the characters have feminine titles
- (e.g Jaejoong is referred to as Empress because that’s his rank)
- most of the characters have different names (and that’s a dealbreaker for most people who get here, so i apologize)
- this is M/M, with a bit of F/F sprinkled in there
*HEVN is in a modern setting. There are some things (read: male pregnancies) that don’t happen in real life and in the setting of this series.
Side Note: There’s really no given timeline for this series. It is in a modern setting but for the actual linear timeline of this series? There’s none. I just want everyone to picture out the past for the stories I do post that are in the “past”, so to speak. Yes, I have hinted at several times that some of these people are ancient (specifically in A God By Any Other Name Is Still A God?) but there’s really like no specific time. I may mention stuff that existed in actual history (e.g Thonis-Herakleion) but that’s about it.
Some readers may have also noticed that I have three separate series for this AU. I separated them due to the difference in the tone(?) of the fics in each series.
